MS Security Essentials Client Update Package - KB2691905 failed to automatically install.

Now the Action Center is notifying that Security Essentials is turned off and must be manually turned on using the Security Essentials program.  However, I cannot find MS Security Essentials listed in my programs.  I don't understand how it would disappear
since it was active prior to this.  Can anyone advise?
