MSE service reverts to disabled after changing the value to automatic

Original Title: MSE Shows as installed but doesn't start.
When I run services.msc and go MS Antimalware services it shows disabled. When I turn on "Automatic" it starts but then when I go back it has reverted back to "Disabled". Is there a virus blocking MSE?
