MSE shows a threat , win32/winmaximizer, but will not remove this threat, even on restart of...

Windows internet explorer opens numerous time (up to 38 in split seconds) downloaded MSE, now I get the window showing a threat has been found, and the popup shows that the threat will be cleaned if I restart my system. It doesn't happen. How can I get this threat removed from my system. I'm unable to run internet explorer, with out the computer going crazy with multiple openings of internet explorer?
