My thoughts on ITE

I decided to use my 888th post to do something special, so here you go.

 

A lot has been said about this song, especially on here, and I know there are threads on this, but I'm going to post my thoughts on this special song.

People have said, like, don't be so mainstream, please have a fave song that's not a single, and all that. Still, if you like LP, you can't ignore In the End. It's unlike every LP song to me, in a different way than the others are special. Most LP fans' fave emo song is Numb, I can understand that, but In the End is definately my fave LP emo song. It's probably the only LP song I favour as much for the lyrics as I do for the music. In the End means so much to me. It is the song I want to have played at my funeral.

 

The lyrics are a very simple philosophy, you try hard in life, but when it all comes down, your efforts don't matter. If you are Christian, as I am, you can interprete these words as: We are all even in God's eyes. And although the philosophy is simple, the words are probably the wisest words I have ever heard, or at least the best worded point of view. The intire lyrics are perfectly worded and fit perfectly to the notes of the song. I have tried to write lyrics to this in my language, and have always failed. I can't put words to these feelings as Mike and Chester have done. You know, I'm not afraid to admit that I can get tired of LP songs if I play them too much, but In the End never gets outdated and I never get tired of it.

 

No matter what you might think of this song, it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. We've got other emotional songs by LP, like My December, but to me that's not as beautiful as In the End. And as mellow as it is, and emo, it reaches to everyone. I remember when I didn't know the first thing about music and didn't like LP, I still loved In the End from the very first time I heard it.

 

Many rock fans hate LP for their sometimes mellow style, and say they are crap, but that's just something people say to be cool. I was watching LIT the other day and I noticed that the toughest Metallica fans were singing to the song and when LP had finished the song, they stood up and applauded for LP. When you hear In the End, you just get swept away. Those hard core Metallica fans are no exception. This LP song is one of the major reasons I started to like LP as much as I do today.

Wow, a lot said. I definetly agree (Even though my favorite is still Somewhere I Belong). I would actaully vote this thread to be the longest and most understanding ever, lol.

That was really sweet Firstly, congrats on getting 888 posts lol. I love In the end as well. My top favourite is Numb (Like you mentioned would probably be most peoples) and In the end <3!

that was really thoughtful and beautiful. It's also special to me, becuase its my first LP memory. a couple of years ago, I was in gym. me and my friends were in a contest, and we lost miserbly. I heard the song by this mysteryous band. It was "In The End" I was waslking home, thinking nothing except the lyrics of this amazing song. I thought how they fit my life perfectly, and I was stunend to think there were words to describe that feeling inside. I fell in love.

ITE is the first song Of lp i had ever heard. I thought it was awesome so i downloaded to a cd with some other songs. It was the song i always put on repeat because I loved that i could relate to it. I later found out it was linkin park and downloaded more songs, then MSG told me about them, and i was like, That bands awesome, then i decided to get all they're songs. I've totally loved them ever since.

 

My faveorite lp song is probably,Carousel. But I always think back to ITE

In the End was the first of their songs that i heard also. i burned it on a cd woth some other songs and it was one of my faves. then my friend introduced me to them sometime later and ive grown to love them...but anyways...thats an awesome post and i agree completely. those are my feelings about that song to..except its not really one of my favorite songs of theres but its pretty close to being my fave...anyways im just jibbering now so im gonna go.... :o

All answers were great, you guys, but this one is something special. After discussions on LPF I found out Numb is very popular amongst LP fans. That's easy to see, the nature of the song has that attraction. But I've never really been able to relate to Numb, In the end works way better for me.

I like Numb. But it's REALLY not my favorite. The lyrics are REALLY good and I relate to them alot (it might be one of my favorite songs lyrical wise, but not overall) Its the kind of song that if you sing it, you get really tired afterwards

but anyways, my point was its not my favorite...and I don't really have a reason

In The End was the 6th song I ever heard from LP (First I ever hear of Hybrid Theory LP since my friend had HTEP) It still is one of those songs that I love to listen to.

Thanks, maybe I'll do another LP song at a special post count, like 1000 or something. I just wanted to bring something special to the forum, if I could, then take it a bit higher. Don't know if that succeeded, but I tried.

wow, that was really deep, and i agree 100%. Theres always just been something about that song that has gotten to me, but i could never put my finger on what it was. whenever i hear In the End, i get this undescribable (sp) feeling. Your post seemed to explain it all to me.

Although Crawling was the first LP song I heard, ITE is ALWAYS the one I think of when I think of LP, and it's ALWAYS going to be the one that means the most to me. If it makes you feel better, I would pick ITE over Numb any day. But that's probably because they play the radio where I work and after hearing six times over the course of a four-hour shift, you tend to skip it when you're listening to LP at home.

yeah i know what you mean. that was the LP song that got me hooked, now i never listen to it.

Ditto. I haven't listened to Numb and Lying From You in who knows long.

Used to be great songs.

 

In fact, Lying From You was my favorite LP song at the time when CC came out. I was obsessed with it, I thought it was the coolest LP song lol. But when Collision Course came out, I haven't listened to it since.

Man, you read my mind, In the End is the first LP song i ever heard, after hearing that song i started listening to their music, there lyrics were so....hm, i can't find the word right now but, after listening to all there songs i realized they are an amazing band, i always enjoy watching the video it brings me back to when i first saw it.

I'm just glad I'm able to reach out to so many fellow LP fans by doing this. Thanks guys!
