The National Football League has hired the first woman to officiate games full time, the NFL said on Wednesday. Sarah Thomas will be a line judge and the second woman to officiate in a regular-season NFL game, the league said. Shannon Eastin, an official in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, was the first woman to officiate an NFL game, serving as a line judge for the first three games of the 2012 season. Among the nine first-year officials announced Wednesday is side judge Walt Coleman IV, the son of the dean of NFL officials, Walt Coleman, who will enter his 27th season in 2015.
