NBA star Tony Parker bid an emotional farewell to the French national team after 16 years Wednesday after the team's 92-67 loss to Spain in the Rio Olympic quarter-finals. The 34-year-old guard has joined the national team after deep NBA playoff runs with the Spurs, wear and tear his body can no longer take and still be effective over the six-month league campaign. Parker, who has won four NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs, exited Brazil without a medal but having achieved his goal of making France a champion, taking Most Valuable Player honours from his homeland's 2013 EuroBasket crown.
