Andy and a friend have been thinking about setting up an Internet Cafe \ Gaming Cafe, It would have a few PC's for Surfing\Email - Then Another say 10 PC's for LAN\Internet Gaming, and maybe some Xbox360's \ PS3's for console gaming. And of course a coffee\cake area.

Local gaming tournaments could be held there and stuff.

Its just an idea at the moment, we were wondering if it would be popular though, if this was set up in your local town centre, Could you see yourself using it?

One of my thoughts are that people who game, already have decent setups with a decent net connection in there own house, so why would they bother going to a cafe.

You should go for it!

Assuming you're setting it up in Manc, I'll definitely come and have a go!

It's always hard to find a good internet cafe, I don't think theres any in Warrington. They're good for tourists too, I know when I'm on holiday I'm always trying to find a computer lol.

Honestly, allie, im not sure. its a really large risk setting up any type of business. i wont even start to go ahead with it untill you have done some market research, go out with questionnaires and find out say out of a 100 how many people would actually go for a thing like that!

well do alot of research before going into something big... see how many internet cafe are there in the area but it sounds good, with good marketing and a nice vibe it could be great

but yeah most gamers have a pc at home so you'll have to think twice

Yeah, defiantly do some research in your area before you make any moves. But, yeah, I think you would attract people. I don't have any of the name gaming consoles nor have I ever had a real gaming computer, so chances are there are gunna be people who wanna play that stuff, but can't afford to actually pay full cost for such expensive equipment.

net cafes are boons for kids near high schools where i come from, we used to go pretty much every week

though itd be more feasible to have like 30 comps which can do BOTH LAN games/stuff and web browsing, as you dont get empty comps and people waiting for LAN games to start can just chill on the net. dont think the ps3/xbox thing may work, replacing controllers would be a hassle cause you know some kids are gonna **** em up some way or another, but the general idea is good if you can somehow keep all ur controllers basically damage free and have a VERY large choice of games for people to play.

believe me when i say, initially, its gonna be a real ***** cause you hafta hire a place big enough, buy a shitload of comps/routers etc, as well as game consoles and tvs, not to mention vending machines, staff, maintenance, internet and so forth, but after about a year(if ur prices are fair-3bucks an hour seems far(AUD)) you should be able to turn a profit really easily(if you open near a school with kids-high school)

If you set it up where people would go, there are chances there will be one there already where people are familiar with.

It's a risky thing to do, but potentially worth it.

Heck in your spare time you could play too, i know i would.

It's a good idea...but yeah...like always before starting a business, think it over and over...and do a business plan...I would know...we had to do it at school...it sucks...but it's a must have...

Good luck whatever you do!
