Network Printer install asks for elevated credentials to install

Hopefully this is the correct forum for this...

i have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on some spare hardware and trying to see how it behaves.

one of the things that i have noticed is that when logged with a standard domain user account and trying to install a network printer that is published in Active Directory and managed from a print server the installation requires elevated credentials to finalize the installation.

this was not the case with Windows XP and users would not be able to provide credentials with elevated privileges so the print install would fail.

is there something that can be configured to allow a standard user to install a printer, and the associated drivers, that is published for instance, on a Windows Server 2003 R2 print server?

thanks.
