Jeezy
Linkin Park is planning what singer Chester Bennington calls "a concept record" for its fourth album, which the group will start recording in early November and be ensconced in making by the time its new live album, "Road to Revolution," rolls out Nov. 25. Bennington is mum on details -- "I'm not sure I'm allowed to say what the big plan is," he notes -- but tells Billboard.com that Linkin Park "never envisioned ourselves doing a concept record, but we see an opportunity to do something really cool so we jumped on it, and we'll see how it comes out. I think it's a challenge and we'll see if we can rise to the occasion." The singer says Linkin Park has already started writing music for the follow-up to last year's "Minutes to Midnight," which has been a different process as well. "If we're writing a song with a specific purpose you're allowed to step out of the realms of commercialism a little bit," he explains. "You don't want to dilute that purpose with something that doesn't have anything to do with it, which is really interesting." While Linkin Park is starting the new album, Bennington will be putting the finishing touches on his first solo album, which he's been recording with producer Howard Benson and hopes to have out next spring or summer. "I'll probably be finished in the next couple months," reports Bennington, who describes the set as "a lot more straightforward rock, with a little bit of an electronic element to it, lots of keys and snyths and stuff like that. And there are a few elements where I think you'll be able to see what my influence on (Linkin Park) is." Bennington also hopes "to do as much touring as possible" to promote the solo album but adds that he's wary of "putting myself in a situation where I can't finish the Linkin Park record because I'm supposed to be on a tour. It's a really delicate kind of balancing act I'm gonna try to pull off here." via billboard
DarknessLover
Holy. Fucking. Shit If they do make a concept album, it's either going to be the end of LP, or the rise of LP2.0 (As in a new generation of LP music) So this could either kill their rep, or skyrocket it. That's if they do it though. lol this could be sweet if this is where the new album goes. Quote The Park is Back? No way!

Mr. Pool
yea it depends on which concept they choose...and for which target audience it will be my personal opinion is that they would gain more rep with a second hybrid theory or meteora.. they tried out a new style, all good and nice, but now its enough...time to go back to the basics and defend their style.... Lyson
You know this 'Chester Bennington' solo album has been 'coming out' since like...forever. The first description of it was something like '...its gonna be walls of guitars...' now its different...synths and stuff? D: ...ah...i gotta stop getting my hopes up, but then again i shouldn't be negative either right? I cant deny being stoked about them making new music...but i cant help being apprehensive after MTM. XD I guess I'm letting the concerns worry me about Chester's solo album...anyway, still SOMETHING to look forward to. I think people need to face it that LP have denounced their original musical style...they won't be doing another HT or Meteora... besides...who wants a repetition? if you want such albums you can just listen to the actual HT and Meteora I know a lot of you hope for their heavier side, but that doesn't have to mean repetition of old stuff Quote [broken External Image]:http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2784/lpfas08mostintelligentym8.jpg

LPHybridSnax
i think its awesome and ive never been open to change with LP. Sixx AM released a concept album and it's one of my all time favorites. Quote That's sexual harassment, officer! (5/8/09)
LP_Soldier
This definitely sounds quite interesting, I really hope they go through with it. It certainly is different for them. And I can't wait for Chester's solo album to come out, and hopefully do some tours. T'would be pretty dope. Ravynlee
You know this 'Chester Bennington' solo album has been 'coming out' since like...forever... ...anyway, still SOMETHING to look forward to. Agreed. And while I am guilty in wanting a heavier side in truth I don't really care what they come up with sound wise so long as it's good. Throwing albums out regularly has never been their thing, as self-proclaimed perfectionists they've always taken their time, so it will be interesting to see how this 'rush' of sorts influences the value or integrity or even the volume of their work. I can't imagine it will be bad by any extreme but you never know - there is such a thing as spreading ones self too thinly, On another note I can't say the news excites me anymore. Until I think we get literal samples, like What I've Done teasers before M2M (which had everyone guessing, 'omg LP's covering the Exorcist! XD) it is all just ho-hum to me. While my musical tastes have changed now, from a sentimental point of view, and general curiosity, I'm interested to see what they come up with from the ambiguous term 'conceptual' - it's a pretty broad term that means practically anything. Chester releasing his solo thing doesn't faze me considering Mike's already done his. They'll manage. They always do. Again, time doesn't concern me, (we waited years before, we'll do so again), but quality does. I don't know if they could 'win me back' anymore, but even out of old habits and yes sentimentality I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Probably won't score a permanent place back in constant rotation on my stereo (no LP album really has since Meteora) but that was a long time ago - as for the rest I guess we'll just have to wait and see. DarknessLover
A conecpt album is like what Pink Floyd's "The Wall" was. The Wall is one of the most popular "Concept" albums ever. The Kinks earlier music was usually also "Concept" based Quote The Park is Back? No way!
