Guest fx
OAKLAND: ALAMEDA COUNTY AGREES TO SETTLE FOSTER HOME SEX ABUSE SUIT 09/18/07 6:50 PDT OAKLAND (BCN) http://cbs5.com/localwire/localfsnews/bcn/2007/09/18/n/HeadlineNews/SEX-ABUSE-SETTLEMENT/resources_bcn_html Alameda County has agreed to pay $188,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by three women who said former Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey sexually assaulted and abused them as minors after the county placed them in his home, their attorney said today. The three women were foster children or wards of the court from 1978 and were placed in the care of Bey's wife, Nora Bey, by county social workers. The women were ages 10, 12 and 13 when first placed with the Beys. In a suit filed in Alameda County Superior Court on July 7, 2003, the women said Yusuf Bey routinely raped them, forced them to drink his urine and semen and threatened them with harm if they ever told anyone. In addition, two of the women, who are sisters, were impregnated by Bey, according to their attorney, David Washington. Washington said one of those women is the mother of Joshua Bey, 20, who is one of three Your Black Muslim Bakery members currently facing kidnapping, torture and false imprisonment charges stemming from an incident involving two women in Oakland on May 17. Also charged in that case is Yusuf Bey IV, 21, Joshua's half- brother and another son of Yusuf Bey, who founded the bakery in 1967 and died of colon cancer at the age of 67 in September of 2003 while awaiting trial on criminal charges of raping a minor. Yusuf Bey IV is the current leader of the bakery, which currently is in the hands of a bankruptcy trustee and is for sale. Washington said Joshua Bey's mother attended several of his court hearings after he and the other defendants were charged on Aug. 7 but is now back at her home in Florida. In a strange twist, Washington is representing Joshua Bey in the kidnapping case, which had a brief court hearing today. The lawsuit alleges that Alameda County social workers missed glaring problems with the girls while they were under the care of Nora Bey, including when they became pregnant and had babies. The suit claims that county officials were aware that the three women were minors while they worked at Your Black Muslim Bakery and "were brutally being raped and otherwise sexually abused at the hands of Yusuf Bey." The suit says the county failed to protect the women by investigating the situation at the bakery and/or removing them from the bakery. In a claim he filed before the lawsuit was filed, Washington alleged that, "The public image of political connections between the County of Alameda and Mr. Bey aided him in concealing a life of sexual assault against minors and vulnerable women." The claim, which was filed while Bey was still alive, says he "flaunts his power and his visible contacts with county officials including several county supervisors." The claim said, "The county embraced Mr. Bey and never questioned his alternative lifestyle even while his 40-plus children were receiving welfare and he was receiving grants for his non-profit organizations." The lawsuit sought $10 million in damages, but the women agreed to settle it out of court for $188,000 in February, Washington said. The settlement was made public late last week after the Bay Area News Group filed a public records request. Alameda County Counsel Richard Winnie declined to comment on the settlement, as did other county officials. CURRENTLY CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES VIOLATES MORE CIVIL RIGHTS ON A DAILY BASIS THEN ALL OTHER AGENCIES COMBINED INCLUDING THE NSA / CIA WIRETAPPING PROGRAM.... CPS Does not protect children... It is sickening how many children are subject to abuse, neglect and even killed at the hands of Child Protective Services. every parent should read this .pdf from connecticut dcf watch... http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com/8x11.pdf http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com Number of Cases per 100,000 children in the US These numbers come from The National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect in Washington. (NCCAN) Recent numbers have increased significantly for CPS Perpetrators of Maltreatment Physical Abuse CPS 160, Parents 59 Sexual Abuse CPS 112, Parents 13 Neglect CPS 410, Parents 241 Medical Neglect CPS 14 Parents 12 Fatalities CPS 6.4, Parents 1.5 Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per 100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a bunch of social workers. CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES, HAPPILY DESTROYING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT FAMILIES YEARLY NATIONWIDE AND COMING TO YOU'RE HOME SOON... BE SURE TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR CANDIDATES STANDS ON THE ISSUE OF REFORMING OR ABOLISHING CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ("MAKE YOUR CANDIDATES TAKE A STAND ON THIS ISSUE.") THEN REMEMBER TO VOTE ACCORDINGLY IF THEY ARE "FAMILY UNFRIENDLY" IN THE NEXT ELECTION...
