but #1 and #4 definitely don't belong as high as they are. There are also a good amount of albums that should be higher. And there are a fewer sleeper albums hiding from this list. But overall, very good and very representive of the "good stuff" of 2004. #1 was more like #62 for me. Meh....at least #2 is correct.

Opinions?

PS: I'll be posting my top 75 albums of 2004 soon before the year is up.

It's pretty fustrating when I post good threads and topics and nobody replys, but then everybody is all over J Simpson vs. A Simpson, etc.

*Confused*

It's a good list, but it have some crazy things, like Kanye West on first. They were probably smoking some weed when they choosed Kanye West to be first.I think U2 should be the first,"How to dismantle an atomic bomb" is awesome. The Hives and Modest Mouse should be on the worst albums list,in my opinion. But i agree with most of it,so i guess that is a good list

I disagree about Modest Mouse. Definitely not top 10, but surely not on a worst albums list. Top 30 for me I would say.

The Hives? Meh.

U2.....I didn't like the new album. I kinda figured it wouldn't be good the first time I heard "uno...dos....tres....catorce". How bad is that? IPod? Saving the world politics? I want to be the biggest, **** rock star ever? Bono's head is too big and his songs are as silly as ever. Not as bad as "All That You....", but still no thanx.

I agree with you about Kayne West. I would've put Madvillain and Clouddead before Kayne West anyhow.

It would be a pain to dig up, but I posted a thread in General Talk on the state of the music world a very long time ago. I'm delighted to see that everything I theorized (according to this list) came true. No one wants style over substance anymore. People would rather listen to Modest Mouse then pop, and Green Day over Hoobastank.

One thing that caught me be suprise was Bowling for Soup's single, 1985. Obviously meant to be a gaint hit and get the record flying off the shelves, the public simply absorbed it for about a week, then suddenly tossed it away like the garbage it was. In my opinion, bands like Bowling For Soup have begun thier death spiral. If only they had shown up three years ago. People would frikkin love them.

I think that it is great that the audience is finally given up on the record companies and has somewhat chosen the music it likes on its own. I hope this trend displayed by this list continues...I really do. I can't stand five more minutes of Yellowcard...

Or Maroon 5...

Or Evanescence...

Or Good Charlotte...

Or every other silly **** band out there

What's so weird about it? The names aren't anything weird to me.

Stylus top 40 of 2004 isn't too bad, but isn't great. At least they have Bark Psychosis "///Codename: Dustsucker" on it. Arcade Fire and Animal Collective should've been higher and The Fiery Furnaces shouldn't have been that high at #1. It'll be hard to forgive them for #34. WTF was that all about?
