Old activation code

My Mom purchased an activation code for Office Professional Plus 2010 back in January of 2011.  I just realized that she has been using Open Office and thinking she was using MS Office all this time.  When I tried to activate, I was told the code
was no good.  Can I get a new code, or reactivate the old code?
