One Year Ago Today...

Yeah ... that's when the voters elected Barack Obama. If you've been scanning the Internet you've seen no shortage of news stories about disappointed - and sometimes disgusted - voters who actually thought they were voting for some type of wonderful change in Washington.

I think the retrospective on Obama's first year should really be saved until the one-year mark from his coronation, not the election. I will say this ... Obama has been far worse than I would have ever imagined. Any promises he made about transparency and bipartisanship in Washington have turned out to be a complete joke. He has shown absolutely no understanding of the role of capitalism and our free markets in the creation of our amazing standard of living in America. He has treated the Constitution as a nuisance rather than a blueprint for governance.

For many years I've been talking about politicians who believe that America's greatness comes from government. Obama is the embodiment of that principal.

Others have said this, and I vehemently agree, that Obama is completely in over his head. This is a job he was simply not prepared to handle. He became president not on the basis of accomplishment, but on the basis of charisma and a well-orchestrated campaign. His election was a crowning achievement of our system of government education.

Obama certainly has the potential of destroying this country as we know it. The ballot box still works ... for now. I truly believe that 2010 may be the last chance we have to save our Republic from the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Rangel, Waxman, Hoyer and the rest of the statist crowd.

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is ``needed'' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents "interests,'' I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can

Barry Goldwater 1964

Can you imagine any candidate, other than Ron Paul, running on that platform today.

Another Barry quote:

"And here we encounter the seeds of government disaster and collapse --

the kind that wrecked ancient Rome and every other civilization

that allowed a sociopolitical monster called the welfare state to exist."

The power to do good is also the power to do harm. - Milton Friedman

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." - James Madison

Well we are again preaching to the choir, I believe all of us can agree that the package we were sold is not what what was inside the wrapper. Obama is who he is but I believe the real story is how the main networks got him elected. They even turned their backs on Hillary, their own kind to jump in bed with Obama.

Is this the closest thing to a State run media?

Obama run media?

Even today the situation would be much different if the media was honestly reporting what is happening, we could get more public support for fighting these bad programs but with most of the media blindly supporting anything Obama does, the masses say uninformed.

If I am preaching to the choir, TJ, then why get involved? If I am preaching to the choir, why do you feel the need to open your mouth to exert your opinion?

And Obama didn't sell me sh!t.

I didn't vote for the man. Did you?

"WE"

"WE" RO, I did not say you, please try to pay attention, I am agreeing with you and what you said. Whar "WE" say here is more often than not an automatic agreement with each other on this topic. I am not the first person to use this term when one of these topics come up RO. I am not the first person to make this point about the lack of a liberal to offer opposing views, so why are you flying off the handle at me?

Are you so pissed off at me for smacking you down in the caption thread that now your looking for any excuse to take a shot at me elsewhere?

Examples:

Very good post. Preaching to the choir, but good none the less.

If I didn't preach to the choir sometimes, I'd have to talk to myself.

That is, if you take my meaning.

That was you in case you don't know ;)

I can offer many more if you need me to.

If you want to call that "smacking down", I seem to remember that you drew on and on about how your Superman fantasy with me.

If anything, that was a letter to the editor at some gay mag in San Francisco.

Yes.

The tale of tape, so to speak, has me in accord with Brotherman. The snag in this line, is the fact that I actually like Brotherman.

You offer nothing but brag and abuse. So please offer up some more of my old posts and I've got an answer for every one of them.

Don't try to change the subject.

We have used the term of preaching to the choir before to mean that we all agree on most of these issues with our Government, but "this" time you decided I was somehow talking down to you when I was actually agreeing with you.

You were wrong, and this is starting to be a habit, maybe slowing down a little and not being so fast to try and find fault in something will improve this for you.

Ohhhhhhhh I get it now. It's not my job to be quick to judge, but when you do it all is fine and dandy.

I do Judge, but it is never quick unless there is danger of harm.

I usually read what is said three or four times before I respond to it, that is why I can sometimes remember discussions I have had with people years later.

When I am wrong, I will tell you that I am wrong.

Well say it big boy.

You were wrong about what I was saying, I was actually agreeing with you, and you took it wrong.

No your dodging just like Bender when you know your wrong.

You blew up on me thinking I said soething that I did not say, in fact I was agreeign with you and you can't bring yourself to admit that you were wrong.

I was never wrong to question the intent of your reply. The only thing I have ever been incorrect on around here is trying to have a civil conversation with you.

People ignore you, because you don't know how to rationally communicate or debate. You have this tendency to opine short of certainty, to dive in headlong at unawares of who you are talking to, and you have the propensity to be condescending and judgmental in your speech.

Truth be told: you are a joke. I laugh at you. I mock you. I point out your little posts to co-workers and friends and together we mock you.

Nothing wrong with questioning my post, but you went further than just a question, you "jumped to a wrong conclusion" RO and arenow doing exactly what you claim I do.

What is the harm in admitting you were wrong RO?

Is your ego so inflated and fragile that you can't even admit you were wrong?
