Our Good Catholic President Bush

The Republican Party in the U.S. currently occupies a position which insists

that there is no such thing as "honest" human "truth" and the right wing

press goes right along with it all. This is to occupy the very same position

occupied by the Roman Catholic Church over the past 1700 years.

In a world devoid of honest human truth, everything is purely "political ",

which is to say that everyone is just arguing his or her own point of view

upon which no one can agree, for nothing more than personal and political

gain.

This is all in keeping with the view that George W. Bush is a secret

Catholic, which is to say that George W. Bush represents our "nation's first

Catholic president" (1), which is to say that George W. Bush is a "fake

christian" (2).

John F. Kennedy, of course, was our first Catholic president, but he

actively sought to divorce his religion from his office, correctly seeing it

as a political albatross at the time during the 1960's protests of

everything right wing, conservative and militaristic. Bush, on the other

hand, has openly welcomed Roman Catholic doctrine and teachings into the

White House, obligated to do so ever since Ronald Reagan got the Old

Testament ball rolling for Republican votes.

Indeed, in preparing for Pope Benedict's upcoming visit, President Bush is

pulling out all the stops: driving out to a suburban military base to meet

Pope Benedict 's plane, bringing a giant audience to the South Lawn and

hosting a fancy East Room dinner. These are all firsts for a U.S. president

(3).

"There was a very self-conscious awareness that religious conservatives had

brought Bush into the White House and that the administration wanted to do

what they had been mandated to do" (1), which in the world of Rome

translates into doing whatever one pleases in the name of Rome.

Bush has placed Catholics into prominent roles in the federal government and

it has been suggested that "he wedded Catholic intellectualism with

evangelical political savvy to forge a powerful electoral coalition".

But the Catholic "intellectual tradition" is an oxymoron, being neither

intellectual or traditional in the church. That is precisely why Jefferson

separated church and state, because there was no reason to be found in Old

Testament religion. Jefferson knew that nascent Christian human rights

deserve our belief not Roman faith.

One must keep in mind that Jefferson's grasp of nascent Christian ethics was

two orders of magnitude more real and sophisticated than the grasp of either

Bush or Benedict, neither of whom know anything about human rights.

Following the American revolution, Roman Catholics (and those who wanted to

retain the beliefs they held under British dominion) and Catholic doctrine

was largely avoided in politics right up until the 1930s when the Catholic

community began finding success and influence in the business world.

In terms of recruiting new members, Old Testament Roman theists typically

have a field day during times of war, when fear can be used to create

desperate people are seeking answers that do not even have to make sense.

So, it is worth keeping in mind that Roman religion is the antithesis of

Jeffersonian Democracy. Romanism was, after all, conjured up by a conquering

Roman emperor in the sole interest of Roman despotism, conquest and control,

all in the name of Jesus, the same man whom Jefferson saw as a kindred

spirit and the Father of Human Rights (4).

It is also worth keeping in mind that Bush and Benedict are "kindred

spirits" (1). Benedict views the occupation of central and south America by

Spanish "Conquistadores" as being entirely justified because it brought

Roman "christianity" to the "heathen" native people. Bush views the

occupation of Iraq by U.S. "Liberators" as being entirely justified because

it brought U.S. "democracy" to the "oppressed" iraqi people..

What Bush and Benedict share is a "belief" system that is beyond human

belief and a world view that is infallible by self-definition, above human

reason and logic, above the voice of the People, and worth doing "whatever

it takes" to maintain itself", "at all costs" - to the point of worshiping

lies, fabrications, and overt ignorance, you name it. Jefferson knew that

was no basis for or way to run a nation.

The U.S., as part and parcel of a larger definable cultural evolutionary

program (of which the people are entirely unaware), has fallen to become a

"wolves in sheep's clothing" imperial nation, as yet another denigration of

the Christ, yet again in the interest of Roman imperialism cum European

colonialism cum U.S. capitalism, all driven by greed for money and lust for

power.

Like the Pope (5), Bush wants your mortal soul, he wants to control you and

define you in terms of what it means to be human and what it means to be an

American. In defining the people in Jefferson's America, Bush has done

nothing but unholy terrorlsm and damage to our human rights-based democracy.

As you must have blind faith in Old Testament religion, you must have blind

faith in greed-driven corporate capitalism to boot. You must have blind

faith if the Cheney-Bush worldview of global dominion by the U.S. is ever to

come to fruition.

"A little patience and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their

spells dissolve, and the people recovering their true sight, restore their

government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are

suffering deeply in spirit,

and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public

debt. But if the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have

patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning

back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at

stake."
