Ron Rivera, named NFL Coach of the Year last season for guiding Carolina to Super Bowl 50, was rewarded with a one-year contract extension, the Panthers announced Thursday. Rivera's prior deal was to expire in 2017, but he has been renewed through 2018, as all of his assistant coaches were earlier this year. "It was an easy decision," Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said.
