Penn State's Joe Paterno will again be the winningest coach in major university football history after the National Collegiate Athletic Association agreed to restore 112 victories wiped out during a pedophilia scandal involving one of his assistants. Former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted in 2012 on multiple charges of sexual abuse and sex with minors. After an investigation into the incidents found that Penn State officials concealed key facts about Sandusky's behavior from authorities, the NCAA imposed sanctions against the school's American football team. The scandal led to the firing of Penn State gridiron coach Paterno, tarnishing his once-iconic legacy with claims he did not do enough to stop Sandusky once notified about an incident of child abuse.
