Okay new episode. New characters though but still having some old characters included.
9.30 a.m.
It was another day at the office for the woman who wore her red curly hair down and wore a black business suit. Her heels clicked against the slippery floor as she passed a number of people in the corridor. She held in one hand a number of manilla folders that included important documents and pictures of criminals. She smiled at a couple of people that she knew passing her in the opposite direction but she didn't speak a word to them. She just continued on walking and carrying on with her normal routine. She arrived in her office a short time after seeing those people that she knew and first thing she did, was to reach for the lights. For her office was as dark as the night in the daytime and even darker at nighttime. The sun didn't shine in on her office at all which made it frustrating at times. The lights flickered on and off for a couple of seconds and eventually remained on without a disturbance.
She sighed as she closed her office door behind her and then started to make her way to her office chair. She sat down at the chair and placed the files that she had previously been carrying around everywhere in front of her. She bent down to the floor, just where the CPU of her computer was and turned her computer on from there. She sat back up straight and opened the manilla folders. She looked at the first page. It was another report of a crime that had been solved about twenty-four hours ago and it was her duty to read over it and pass it on to the next person who would eventually hand it to the big bosses of the government agency that she worked for. It was a demanding job for Sarah and there had been many times that she swore she had given up faith in believing that this was the right job for her to be in. She removed her eyes from the front page of the report and looked to the golden picture frame in front of her.
There stood Tyler and her, Tai, she called him, her partner, not in crime, but in a relationship. It had been about four months since he was deployed to the Middle East to fight in this "War of Terror". They had only been together for several months and already she could see this relationship faltering. They had met on an assignment some time before they started to have feelings for one another. It was involving the US Army, an area that Sarah wishes never to face again because of their ignorance and lack of respect towards FBI and everything the agency stood for, as always. However, that only occurred amongst the highest ranking officers, the soldiers like Tai, were the nice ones that told the FBI everything that they knew, even stuff they would get in trouble from their commanding officers.
There was a knock at the door.
"Yeah, come in on," said Sarah, as she looked to see who would come through the door.
"It's only me," replied Rob, as he stepped through Sarah's door and nicely dressed in a business suit that looked daggy on him. The rolled up sleeves and the crinkled shirt told Sarah he couldn't care less about ironing his wardrobe. "How's it going, Lee?" It had been several months since the last case that they had worked together on which resulted in the Houston coroner taking her own life and leaving Rob with a daughter he never knew he had. Ever since then Sarah had been keeping low and working on low range cases.
"Not too bad, Agent Harris," answered Sarah. "Do you want to a seat or are you still too stubborn to accept such an offer?"
"No thanks," answered Rob. "I'm just in the neighbourhood and I thought I am better off making this quick. You've got a new partner in crime, Lee."
"Who could it be this time?" asked Sarah. "I hope I'm not training up some silly rookie."
"Rookie's aren't allowed on the Files, and you should know that," Rob explained. "His name's Pete and he's going to be in here in a hour's time so you've got an hour to improve your manners towards him."
"Why do I know that name?" asked Sarah, frowning. "I know that name too well. I hope he's not that guy who's always transferring across departments all the time. Is he?" Rob nodded. "So what makes you so sure that this little bugger's going to be up to dealing with the Files?"
"Because I have faith in him and faith is one thing you should always rely on when in doubt," answered Rob.
"Faith got you in places where you shouldn't have been and here you are praising faith as if it's some sort of magically healing power?" asked Sarah, frowning again. "Strange, these things, don't you think?"
"Are you going to do it peacefully or am I going to force you to take on this new partner and then make his life a living hell?" asked Rob. "In which case, you make his life a single hell and I get a complaint about you from anyone including Pete, and you'll be back in front of the committee. Am I clearly understood Agent Lee?" Sarah nodded.
"On a lighter note, how's Matilda and how's the new thing with being her father going?" asked Sarah.
"Don't even ask about it, being a parent is harder than what I thought it would be," answered Rob. "But don't worry about me. I'm not on a sinking boat just yet."
"I'm glad to hear that," commented Sarah. "So when does this newbie arrive?"
"He's not a newbie, as you would put it, he's had dealings with several departments just like you," objected Rob.
"Yeah, because he gets booted out a lot," commented Sarah. "Look, don't go and blame me if he can't hold his ground in this area of the FBI. If he thinks we're playing checkers right now Rob, I'm playing chess."
"Just do it, or else," warned Rob. "I'm not here to play games with you Agent Lee, in fact, I think that's the last thing either of us need right now. He's going to be here soon so that'll give you time to try and find your manners."
"I left my manners at home," commented Sarah, blankly.
"Then go home for the day and find them!" snapped Rob, impatiently, as he slammed the office door shut and disappeared out of site.
Sarah had a feeling that this new partner of hers, wasn't going to be all cracked up to be as Rob had described him to be. But Sarah knew again, Rob's best friend was exaggeration. Sarah shrugged at her own thoughts and went back to looking at the cover page of the reports she had on her desk.
