Police probe possible sighting of New York state prison escapees

The unconfirmed sighting of Richard Matt and David Sweat occurred in the town of Friendship, about 280 miles (450 km) southwest of the Clinton Correctional Facility, where they had been serving sentences for murder, said New York state police spokesman Beau Duffy. Authorities have deployed officers with dogs and air support, he said. The U.S. Marshals Service has put Matt and Sweat on its 15 Most Wanted Fugitives List.
