Prank call scam- 5.10pm Wed 18/1/2012 I have just received a call from an Indian sounding gentleman who claimed his name was Kevin Ward from the Service Department of Microsoft, The Internet Security Association. He stated his phone number was 073 1032557. He told me that his offices have been receiving messages – error report messages and that he would need to do an inspection on my computer. He told me to click on start and to type in the run box: event vwr and click OK. I did not follow this advice and I told him that he would need to ring back as I had visitors. He stated he would ring back another time. Would you please explain what this gentleman may have been trying to do? Or if you have heard of anyone else getting a call like this?
