Police: Woman, 70, Raped At Knifepoint

MANSFIELD, Ohio - Police were searching for a registered sex offender who
they said raped a 70-year-old woman on Wednesday.
Surveillance cameras at the West Park Senior Center apartments caught
William Bounds (pictured, right) walking into the building behind a
resident, 10TV News reported.
Police said once inside, Bounds entered the apartment of a 70-year-old
woman.

"He had a knife and threatened the lady and said he would kill her if she
didn't submit to his wishes," said Mansfield police Lt. John Wendling.
Bounds, 48, raped and robbed the woman at knifepoint, police said.
People inside the building called 911 and showed police where Bounds was
seen running after he left the apartments, 10TV News reported.
"Eventually one of the patrol cars saw someone matching his description
about three or four blocks away," Wendling said. "A foot pursuit ensued at
but he was able to elude the officers."
The victim was taken an area hospital, 10TV News reported. Before being
released, she identified Bounds in a photo lineup.
Bounds, who spent 21 years in a Massachusetts for armed rape, faces felony
charges of rape and burglary.
Police said Bounds has family in Mansfield.
