Hi all,

situation:

WinXP SP3. SP3 installed for a long time. Remote desktop connection (RDC) version 6.0.6001.18000.

Termianl server on windows server 2008.

Some months all worked perfectly, but yesterday problems have started.

RDC opens normally, but it crashes when I try to connect. I get the following in Event Viewer:

Faulting application mstsc.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, faulting module

mstscax.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000.

Is only happens in one local profile. If login as the local administrator or other user (not admin) RDC works fine.

i do:

1. Clear terminal cache

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Cache

2. Re-register mstscax.dll. Register dll work fine, but unregister (regsvr32 /u) - error DllUnregisterServer

3. In safe mode copy files of RDC same version from other computer:

mstsc.exe

mstscax.dll

mstsc.exe.mui

mstscax.dll.mui

4. Scan for viruses, rookits, malware, etc. Empty.

5. Looking for anything suspicious in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client. Not Found.

6. Even IE has updated to 8th version.

7. Clear user temp folder

Nothing helped.

Temp resolution:

Copy files of RDC 6.0.6000.16386 to new folder

mstsc.exe

mstscax.dll

mstsc.exe.mui

mstscax.dll.mui

and associate .rdp file with this version RDC. This RDC worked, but it has problem with easy print, therefore this resolution is temporary.

I know, that moving user profile help me (much on the Internet has helped), but i have a problem with move profile and this not resolution for this problem.

Any idea?
