In this post you accuse God of these things and in the next you claim He

Why would you think you have to have a god that actually exists in
order to worship him?

Obviously people do it every day.

It's not unlike talking about Peter Pan's tendency to fly. We can make
comments on a character without asserting that the character is a real
person.

In the context of that post, it was less a criticism of your god than
a criticism of you who worship it. You're the ones who believe it's
real, and yet have no moral qualms with supporting its (by your own
accounts) rather bloody nature.

(Apologies to cross-posted newsgroups. Followup set to alt.atheism.)

Sure, the True God, which turned from those people because they would
not enter the promised land unless they could kill all those who already
lived there.
The One who is "BotH Male and Female" and who made Seth in the Perfect
Body, to represent Male/Female.
No matter what man does he can not prevent the evolution of the body,
and all will eventually attain Hermaphrodite.
Man was meant to **** himself, and regardless of the concept except for
the sex, does a damn god job of it.

I think in a subtle way he is saying 'if your god existed he could be blamed
for all these horrible things'.

In a not-so-subtle way, he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

EITHER He has (in his opinion) done all these bad things OR he doesn't
exist - can't have both.

Do you work at being this stupid, or does it come naturally? The
character of your god is quite repulsive. That assessment can be
made without accepting its existence.

He can do it, but not for reasons you think he can not do it.

Are you going to tell me, you have never discussed a fictional character as
if it was real? Not even Sherlock Holmes? Not even fairies with small
children, not even the tooth fairy?
It's known as granting your conclusion for the sake of discussion. Just
like I can discuss xianity, and its supposed founder. I do not have to
believe in the existence of the founder to discuss the history that is
claimed to support it, nor the writings that claim to verify it.

I can grant that you believe in a concept, but I do not. I think I can
safely state, that if a person wanted rational discussion on that subject,
I can provide one. Of course, have a hard time realizing that anybody who
does not believe as they do really is rational. When their mythology is
involved, a lot of the rationality, they do possess in the other portions
of their life disappears. I suspect this is also true for other confirmed
believers in the revealed gods of the desert, in particular, as well as the
other gods of humanity.

I can understand why an atheist would not accept your claim of atheism
being a religion. For that to be the case, you would have civilized the
word religion so much, that trailer trash, watching the residue from
their lunch going down the commode could be called a religion. But then,
you never have even managed to establish beyond readable doubt that your
clue went beyond the end of your fingertip. It doesn't. I don't not
mind you being misinformed, I do not mind you telling this lie, it gives
credence to the moral bankruptcy that comes with xianity. After all, if
you're willing to lie about something this trivial, what would you do
about something important, say, you know there's a god.

> Terrell

walksalone, who does not remind Terrell telling these lies, he may even
believe them. But that does not make them true or him a better man. But
still, xianity for years has tried to drag others down to their level,
and this is but one way of that attempt being invoked.

It does not "civilize" the word too much any more than asserting that that
all people are "human." It's simpy what the word means. The lie is in
atheists trying to redefine the word to exclude themselves.

The word it should have been trivialized.

> that all people are "human." It's simpy what the word means. The lie

There is a difference between what a word means, and what you want it to
mean. Religion has nothing to do with atheism, supposedly it's a
personal matter that you like to make public. To give you your credit,
you're nowhere near as vociferous as quite a few that make their debut on
the xian newsgroups, but you still try to peddle your point of view,
knowing it to be wrong, as if everybody else grants, you're mistaken
assumptions.

> is in atheists trying to redefine the word to exclude themselves.

But you have to say that, otherwise you might lose track of the fact
that, atheism simply means no belief in any gods. It does not even have
anything to do with the word religion, and you know this, in reality.
But you cannot admit that. I admit, that means, somebody reject out of
hand. Your claims for special relationship to a sky pixie that nobody
can find. More than a slight resemblance to the Emperor's new clothes,
want to say a mirror image.
As I have said, you have, trivialized th word the word, into
meaninglessness in your attempt to denigrate others and drag them down to
your level. This is quite all right by me, after all, you have to have
something to make you feel either my equal or superior. And your god
cannot do that job.

I left the above them, because it's perfectly valid and appropriate, you
have trivialized the word religion into meaninglessness. Darn, I didn't
think that was a word

walksalone, who really sees no need for Terrell to continue to establish
that he is in fact a petty person, something. I was aware of but had not
realized prior to this. After all, if what he says is true, my religion
is based on more reality than his able could be. But of course, that's
not what he means, he means that atheism is really just as shake and bake
as his personal religion is.

In a sense, you are right, atheism has nothing to do with religion - but you
are wrong in the larger picture - all people have a religion, just like all
people have a heart or sinuses. It's whatever your core beliefs (or it's
synonyns) happen to be. I have also postulated that ultimately all people
have a different religion.

Then to equate the two is a bit more than dishonest.

> but you are wrong in the larger picture - all people have a religion,

Again, your definition is so tenuous as to be vapid and useless. Its
altercation, and rendition of another definition, that is usable by more
than one person. It's not a correct, nor appropriate.

> just like all people have a heart or sinuses. It's whatever your core

& how exactly do my core beliefs, other than I have the most beautiful
women in the world in my life, my daughters, affect my life. What are
they, how do you detect them, you don't.

> beliefs (or it's synonyns) happen to be. I have also postulated that

Your postulates do not matter, unless you provide evidence for them. You
can't, all you can do is use a watered-down definition. That is so
tenuous as to be useless. And this is okay, it even helps you feel
better, why not. Other than it's wrong to lie about or to others, but
why not.

By the way, those PDFs I mentioned, they were on the binary newsgroup.
That same newsgroup is about to receive a jw flood.

I mention this, because I will no longer be in this thread. This is one
point, you cannot communicate on, I know not the emotional investment you
have it, but it's more than I have. I'll except the fact, that in this
aspect of your life, you are dead wrong and unable or incapable of
understanding that.

Walksalone, who will not continue in this thread, because I see no reason
to continue to kick a dead horse, or a live horse come to that.

So you never, not once , have discussed an imaginary character?

Not ever, right?

The above question has been asked a great number of times here. Can you
remember any theist who ever tried to answer it? I can't remember one
example.
