Guest crooozin
Dumb question, have you tried completely removing VMLite (and anything associated with it), reboot, re-install, reboot? This is about the point at which I'll just backup all data and do a clean Windows re-install if a recovery partition/disks or OS is otherwise available. These problems can be more than maddening and end up just being huge time sinks; sometimes a clean reinstall is quicker. Of course it depends on programs installed, and your mileage may vary. Guest Jane Doe
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums...75-3e6daf9b530f Hi Croozin - I think I'm going to have to reinstall the OS probably! I was going to uninstall my VMCLite as you suggest, but came across the above posting and reply. My settings for my internet connection are the same as Method 2. I'm really clueless about the OS reinstall and hope I don't lose too much. I will have to wait for a new month's megs before I can do anything. I KNOW it's not an infection of any kind - just the luck of the draw I suppose. Guest Jane Doe
I have done exactly what you suggested and the installation settings are the same. However my computer is running better generally, with the exception of WLM which is slower on opening, and WLMsg which now cannot find my contacts. Also I received the same Windows Defender error message. Guest Jane Doe
Well, well, guess what? I paid a visit to my VMC Lite supplier this morning and asked whether their USB modem could perhaps be incompatible with Vista. The answer was that it could. The technician took my modem to their workshop and returned about twenty minutes later, saying that it was now Vista friendly. What a week, TGIF! Thank you all for your input. - JD PS: So far so good.
