LPpinkfreak821
has anyone else heard about this!? here is what happened: Red Lake High School containg 300 students was attacked yesterday March 21st. The student blasted through the metal detectors killing a gaurd on his way through. The students name was Jeff Weise, 17 years of age. Earlier that morning he had shot and killed his grandparents and continued the killings at school. He was said to have been a copy cat of the Columbine High School Shooting. He walked up to the studens and asked if they believed in God and then shot them. The victims all include 5 students, 1 teacher, a body gaurd, and the grandparents. They sadly did not make it. 14 other studens were wounded. At least 3 of the victims were shot in the head at close range. Other studens afterwards had descibed the boy as a loner, he wore black all the time, very quiet kind of person, he has also THREATENED to do it before. But no one believed him. No one knows what his motive to do such a thing was. Jeff Weise killed himself after exchanging fire with officers. Here is the Link to other information: http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20050321185409990006 Anywho. I just thought you guys who have not heard this might want to. They said it was the WORST since Columbine. It has also been mentioned that they are blaming the Media Violence along with something to do with teen socialism or something.. i dont' remember.. read the article! Clogz
It was a terrible shame. I think it sounds like the guy had some real issues he needed to deal with. And it is so typical for everyone to start pointing fingers already. People just aren't allowed to be crazy anymore, no. It is all the media/music/video games's fault! What a tragedy though. LPpinkfreak821
one thing for sure its TOTALLY horrible... for people who actually feel that they need to do something like that.... anywho... i think that it isn't the media music... or whatever.. its the f*ckin world.. it screwed up.. im sure that we have all had our own lil thoughts bout killing someone when we are mad. .but we don't go through with it.... this kid needed attention and no one gave it to him.. he was picked on.... and there is some kid at every school just like him.. waiting for a reason to strike... there is also the people who will try and help him get better and those who make it worse.. i think the real question to this.. was which one were the other students. and when it comes to attention at your school... who are you!? Suicide King
How horrible. This kid's life was probably a living hell. His father commited suicide and his mother is living in a nursing home because she suffered brain damage during a car accident, and also other kids in his school teased him. No one lend this kid an ear or a shoulder to cry on, that's why he went this far to get attention. Let's quote Marylin Manson shall we?: When asked what he would say to the kids from Columbine- "I wouldn't say a thing to them. I would listen to them. And that's what no one did" Quote |Myspace|Last.fm| [broken External Image]:http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/8841/somethingsigfr1.jpg
KillMeImIrish
where was that at? i did hear about it. it really is sad. how do you prevent things like that from happening? unfortunately, you can't. do you send them to a mental hospital before he can do something like this? do you get therapy for him? this guy could have been showing NO signs of anything violent. so i mean, it's just hard to know when this kind of thing will happen. that's the sad thing. things are only going to get worse in our future. more things like this are going to happen, and it's all because of the "comforts" our society offers us. ugh. i hate to even think about it. linkinpark-1
I heard about that, It's aweful. I used to live close to there. I dont know whats going on with Minnesota lately. Last year there was a student that brought a gun to my cousins school and shot to people. That was in Cold Spring. My mom's friend's son was standing right next to one of the kids that got shot. Scary stuff. Sad stuff. Allied
They shouldn't call it a copy cat shooting. Thats dis-respectful to him and columbine. How could he get through the metal detector? Just proves that turning the schools into prisons doesn't help a thing. Just proves that turning the schools into prisons doesn't help a thing. My school has no security what-so-ever. In fact, this one 21 year old guy came and beat the shit out of someone right in the middle of lunch break for making fun of his girlfriend, so something like this could easily happen at my school. Probably wouldn't, but still, kind of makes you paranoid a little bit :S Quote [broken External Image]:http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/9403/untitled28ic6.jpg [broken External Image]:http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1118/22wc5.jpg [broken External Image]:http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2756/7mi3.jpg
KillMeImIrish
yeah, my school doesn't have security at all. i leave campus all the time to go get candy from the Dollar Tree and just walk right back in. who knows? i could be some 19 year old psycho girl armed with lethal bananas.. i mean, c'mon! Clogz
Let's quote Marylin Manson shall we?: When asked what he would say to the kids from Columbine- "I wouldn't say a thing to them. I would listen to them. And that's what no one did" From 'Bowling For Columbine', right? This is a problem right now in our society...these kids get swept under the rug, and they end going nuts over it all and doing something crazy like this. I read a book by Frank Peretti, The Wounded Spirit. It gives probably the best critical look at school shootings. Anyone who wants to know why people do things like this should read that book. It is a real eye-opener. Breakingthehabit_197
These shooting wouldn't happen if folks wouldn't bully people to the point where they want to harm people. This shooting shouldn't have never happened in the first place it could have been prevented. KillMeImIrish
yeah, but how? yeah, sure, everyone needs some friends. and we can all be nice to people and act like everything's wonderful, but things like this will still happen. regardless of how people are treated, mental problems are out there. take one of my best friends for example. he had everything going for him. he was kind of the "gothic/punk" type... but everyone LOVED him.. he had very little self esteem, even though he was very well liked. he just recently got sent to a mental hospital for suicide attempt.. twice. it all basically comes back to the family life, most of the time. so, really, no matter how nice people are to other people.. no matter how many times someone is shown understanding, no matter how much people are cared for, there are still going to be some out there who do things like this. and we can't sit back and blame anyone but them. Family is a big part of it. But sometime, like you said, it is just a mental thing. Even if it is a mental thing it wouldn't help anything if you would go up them them and dis em. You have to walk on egg shells around those ppl. Trust me I know. I've had a friend who attemped suicide, and it was her family and friends that were the reasons. o0SugaxNxSpice0o
I haven't read the newspaper in a while, so I haven't heard of this till now. It's a really aweful feeling to know that this happened in real life and it's just really horrible. Words can't express how saddening it is. I didn't think there would be any more of these high school shootings like the columbine one. It's so scary =( I don't know how anything can justify what the kid did, it's easy to blame the parents, the school, the people who bullied him, but when it comes down to it, who knows why. I just hope there won't be anymore similar incidents like this one. It really is sad. Rip to those who died, and my thoughts are out to those involved and affected by this.
