Red screen of death after installing new motherboard

Hi guys,

built a new system running windows 7 (32 bit).

kept old hard drive without reinstalling windows. i was expecting it wouldnt run but when it did i thought "you beauty" and away i went....all was well until...

1. i run my counterstrike source for online gaming...after perhaps 30 minutes (or even longer sometimes) of running....bang a red screen of death (completely blank of any text). computer will not restart either automatically, using any keys on the keyboard, or soft off power button.

2. when i run fsx (service pack 2 installed)...consistently crashes after only a couple of minutes of running the simulator.

In order to get beyond the issue it must either be turned off (eg hold power button on front panel in for about 4 seconds or, at the power switch on back of power supply), or reset using the reset button on front panel.

I have tried everything i can think of

removing all hardware but basics (video card, ram 1x4 gig stick only installed, dvd, hdd, twin lg monitors)

i have

1. updated the bios

2. tried repairing windows

3. unistalled any additional hardware drivers i can think of (eg old sound card driver, old video card driver etc)

4. run registry cleaner

5. even swore at it quite a few times ^_^

is my problem that i have not reinstalled a fresh copy of windows 7 after replacing everything but hdd?

kind regards

adam
