Registry Errors. Lots of them!

I ran a system analyzer and among other things, it came up with over 1000 registry errors.  Is it possible that this is the source of my painfully slow performance? 

I've run disk defrag, virus scan, removed any unneeded programs at start up (that I can find).


I am running XP Media Center Version 2002 SP 3. do I need a registry cleaner?  suggestions?
