Removing the windows.old folder

I've been trying to delete the windows.old file by using the disk clean up method some people have recommended but it's not working. My pc isn't asking me to either boor vista or windows 7 since I deleted a partition but the windows.old folder is still talking a lot of space on my pc what can I do to remove it permanently ?
