Cool, thanks for the update. I can't wait to here some more about the album!
It sounds like the guy they chose can really assist them in making some great music. Seeing how wide of a variety of people it is that he's worked with seems like pretty good news.

Wow, thanks for the update. You can hear how much they've matured, not just as he says as seasoned musicians but as individuals too. They've come a long way from the HT days and while they've found their own unique sound and know where they want to be as far as the music goes, it's nice to hear they're not settling back now and just resting on their laurels as so many other of today's artists do. I'm glad they're striving for new things, it shows that they really are all about the music and not so much the celebrity hype that drives so many of their counterparts. Thinking like this should keep them going for years to come - let's hope so at least. Can't wait to hear what they come up with next.

The addition of Rick Rubin isn't going to change LP's sound. Only LP does that... Having a producer like Rubin is only going to help this album... And he won't change them into the Beastie Boys. Maybe RHCP, but not the Beasties.::.']Hmmmm I hope there are still some songs like the LP we know. I mean I dont think I could stand them if they were say like the beastie boys. But yeah that wont happen...atleast I hope not.On the other hand, I'm having a fit here, waiting for the new album

JOE HAHN'S LINKIN PARK UPDATE
Right now we're in the experimental phase of the writing process for our new record. There is no solid direction yet, we're trying to be as eclectic as we can for the moment and then we'll see what stands out the most out of all the music we write, which will give us more of an identity to strive for.
We wanted to step it up as far as working with a producer and really try to create an atmosphere that will challenge us in different ways. We chose Rick Rubin because his credits alone speak a lot about his ability and his open-mindedness as a producer, working on everything from the old Def Jam, Beastie Boys and Run DMC, to Slayer, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think the common denominator with all these groups is that they create great music through the years that has stood the test of time.
When we were discussing producers for our next record, the list of people we were considering was actually pretty small. Fortunately for us, Rick lives in LA and we got to meet up at his house and talk about music, life and approaches to writing, and just kind of have real casual conversation and get to know each other as people. And we really took a liking to him as he did to us, and the more we talked to him it just kind of made sense that we'd try working with him.
With this record we're striving to come up with something different than what we've done before. The first two Linkin Park albums are connecting chapters, and I don't think that this one necessarily needs to connect with those because we've already established our sound. When our band first came out it was really interesting and new, and now that we are established as musicians, I think we need to freshen that up and come up with some different and interesting approaches that pertain to today. We look forward to touring and sharing our new music with all of our fans, hopefully by this summer after our album is complete.

LINKIN PARK GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS
Launch Radio Networks reports: LINKIN PARK announced last week that the band will record its third studio album with Rick Rubin, the world-famous producer known for his work with SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, among many others.
Although the band hasn't started recording yet, singer Chester Bennington told Launch that he's already gotten some good advice from Rubin. "He's suggested that we start working from melodies," he said. "Like, usually, we write music first and then I kind of, like, work with the music and develop the melodies with Mike (Shinoda, MC) and stuff like that. Now he's saying to just start working and developing from the very earliest stages the songs, even before they're even really songs. It's been interesting to work in that way, 'cause it's different for me."
LINKIN PARK is currently writing and demoing material for its new effort, the band's first full-length studio project since 2003's "Meteora".
Mike Shinoda is currently on the road with his side hip-hop project, FORT MINOR.
Although Chester Bennington had announced plans earlier this year to work on his first solo album, the vocalist told MTV.com that he has delayed that project until 2007 or later to work on the new LINKIN PARK disc.
