Ridiculously length of time to run full scan on MSE.........WHY?

Can anybody suggest to me why the full scan with MSE takes so long? I am now at 5 hrs. Please, there must be an answer for resolution. And, how would know if Im am "Beta" or not "Beta"? Geeezzzz
