Sixers invite singer back after anthem controversy

Sevyn Streeter, the singer whose national anthem performance was canceled by the Philadelphia 76ers in a controversial move last month, will perform it next month, the NBA club announced Saturday. Streeter was wearing a "We Matter" jersey, a reference to the "Black Lives Matter" campaign in response to controversial police shootings of black men across the United States, when she was denied her chance to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the 76ers' season opener October 26 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. "After a meaningful dialogue with the 76ers organization, I have accepted their apology," Streeter said.
