Its like MSN, or AIM. But instead of text, you can actually exchange words with the person.

Skype calls it a free internet phone, but ti doesn't connect to any real phone lines, only other Skype users.

Skype users can connect to real phone lines, but they will be charged. I have Skype and it's actually really good. I've saved a lot of money ever since I started using it. My skype name is amyshinoda.
