Some things really should remain private

One of my employees is dating the chief of police and whenever we work together, not only does she provide me with excruciating details of their latest sexual escapades (it's like watching a train wreck, though. I can't NOT listen!!!!), she also shares personal/private details of people around town that I know she is hearing from him.

This girl has a big mouth and hangs out with the premiere gossipers in the area. I can't believe he tells her things that happen on the job when he knows full well she is going to blab it to everyone she encounters.

Shouldn't it be his duty as a law professional to keep things that happen during his time on the clock under wraps?

I can't speak of the laws there, but, in most places unless it's confidential information about juveniles, what is and what isn't confidential is usually up to the policy discretion of the agency or based on what is available to be released to the media (general info on types of calls, traffic stops, accidents, etc...).

At our agency, most everything is confidential unless it is something that is contained in the initial call sheet created by the dispatcher, has been approved for release by an administrator, or affidavits that get filed with the court. It's usually a CYA thing so you don't get sued, because you can get sued for anything.

In a nutshell, if he's the Chief of Police, he can probably tell whatever he wants about adults, unless told otherwise by the mayor or city council, because it's going to fall back on him (and the town).

In my opinion, ethically, he shouldn't be doing that. Although, that might be why she keeps having jungle *** with him. :D

I guess everyone in town has scanners in order to listen in on the area's dirty laundry so it's not like anything is really a secret around here anyway.

But his lack of overall professionalism does suck.

And she needs to learn to keep her loose lips shut, too.
