majinkamahl
This is the thread where I want you all to envision holding a CD. On that CD is all the songs that stand out disctinctly in your mind as defining your life, and their events. You have to list the songs and why they connect to you. Pour moi: 1) Money - Pink Floyd This song was the first song I learned all the words to and was also always playing in my mind when I was with my father. When my parents divorced, my mother got sole custody, so I only ever saw my father rarely. In my mind, Pink Floyd (as a collective) reminds me of my father, and this song in particular because I knew all the words first and am learning to play the saxophone solo. 2) Numb - Linkin Park This song strongly reminds me of my fallout with my mother. My mother and I never saw 'eye to eye'. She wanted me to be a doctor. She wanted to 'sculpt' me into something I wanted nothing to be a part of. She tried so hard to control me. She always had to turn everything into a power struggle, and it always had to be her way. When I graduated high school, joined the army, and moved out (all within a month of each other) my mother and I shared some words. Suffice it to say, (without be a cliche) I grew 'numb' or immune to her words. I am better off without her. 3) Spin - Lifehouse Whenever I feel my life is spinning out of control, or I can not see my next move in life, or I can not see around the corner, this song always help me grab hold. The video is actually helpful to me too. This song reminds me that when all is spiralling downward, I can only look towards the light and grab hold of that which keeps me sane. 4) Higher - Creed Originally the song I attested to my first serious girlfriend, Lana. She told me in great detail how this song is just like me. I am always trying to pull people up. I am always holding those too weak to stand up. I am a defender of something 'higher'. Maybe within myself, maybe some external force. This song reminds me I fight for something better than myself. 5) Photograph - Nickelback This song reminds me of one of my own hobbies. I took pictures of everything and everyone. Recently, a good friend and I had a bit of a parting of ways. I have a photograph of the two of us. I am going to send it to her with a heartfelt note and hope she comes around. I miss her. 6) All My Life - K-Ci & JoJo I listen to this song everytime I feel lovelorn. I sing this to myself in my head to the woman of my dreams. I am searching for my soulmate, the one I want to be the mother of my children, my wife, my best friend, my world. I sing this to her in my dreams, hoping one day she will come to me. 7) Keep Fishin' - Weezer No matter how hard life gets, keep fishin'. Kind of my motto song for 'try again'. This song brings a bit of a comical way to look at failure and how I can strive for what it is I want with a sense of rejuvenation. 8) Days Go By - Dirty Vegas I first heard this song while in the car with my mother. We were having a bit of a tender moment. We were both being humane and we were actually talking to each other lovingly. She told me no matter how far I got, how angry I was, she would still love me and be my mother. When the song ended, she told me she wanted me to remember this song. For her, days went by without me very hollow like. I know she loves me. This song continues to remind me of how deep down miserable she is and how my being her son reflects that without her, my days are somewhat hollow too. 9) I Can Only Imagine - Mercy Me This song...for Kari. My best friend. Gone horribly religious to zealotry levels. The line 'surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel' is how I felt around her all the time. Our relationship became very centered on a more spiritual level and this song reminds me what it is that I owe to her. 10) Ironic - Alanis Morrisette For all the silly little things that have happened to me. Everytime it happens, some silly incovenience of irony, this song pops into my head. It happens quite a bit. 11) Now We Are Free - Hans Zimmer/Lisa Gerrard I hear this song in my head everytime I emerge from some struggle in any sense. This song has a bit of a spiritual connection to me I suppose you could say. My inner self is at peace when I hear this song, because I know at the end of the day, I did something right, and have therefore freed myself from any kind of despair or agony holding me down. 12) Butterfly - Crazytown For the first girl I ever had a crush on. My god, the hours I spent pining over her. This song for some odd reason was always on the radio when I was thinking of her. Maybe that, or when it came out it was very popular and it also came out when I found myself a little puppy-eyed for my crush. 13) Supermoves - Overseer This is my fight song. One of two. (Test Your Might - Mortal Kombat Soundtrack being the second, but not as prevalent.) When I hear this, the blood gets pumping and I start to picture myself in my minds eye decimating a room full of opponents. 14) Return To Innocence - Enigma I want this song played at my funeral. Do not ask me why, I just know. This song makes me feel like a small, naive, innocent child. My honourable battle death aside, if I go peacefully in my sleep or something of the sort, I want this song played as I think my soul would be pleased to hear it. I would be innocent again. 15) Lady Venom - Swollen Members You ever see that girl you know that if you let her get to you, she will only be bad news? You know it when you see her from across the room, but you go to talk to her anyway? This song is for all the women in my life who have corrupted me in some way. 16) Planet Caravan - Planet Caravan This is the "if I were a pothead" song. I am not a pothead, but I imagine myself listening to this song everytime I feel really mellow. 17) #1 - Nelly This is my "failure is not an option" song. If I have to get something done, and succeed at it, this is the song I get vibing with. The lyrics are very empowering for someone who has an ordeal to get through and they know they are in it to win. 18) I Stand Alone - Godsmack For obvious reasons. When I get the feeling, I can only count on me, I am the only one who can do it. This is my motivation song for a single handed situation. If I am in trouble, a fight, what have you, if I am the only one I can count on, I stand alone. 19) Hurt - Johnny Cash My hurt song. Clearly. When I feel let down, maybe even a little emo, this song always comforts me in my misery and lifts me up by the time it is done playing. 20) We Are The Champions - Queen As a child on the baseball competitive team, we blasted this song everytime we kicked ass. Suffice it to say, we played it alot. 21) Porcelain - Moby Road trip song. Everytime I was on a long drive, the road was empty, the breeze was nice and the leaves were starting to turn colours, this song was always on hand. I often got to thinking about my life while on the long roads, which I know most people do (were they are headed in life, etc) and this song always got me thinking and reflecting. 22) Epiphany - Staind This song best describes my interactions with people in general most times. The line, 'I am nothing more than a little boy inside that cries out for attention, yet I always try to hide' best describes me when I feel a little vulnerable. When I need some "me time", I crawl into myself and listen to this song over and over. 23) Fly Like An Eagle - America This song was my going to sleep song whenever I slept over at my uncle's home. It calmed me and I often dreamt of flying with the eagles. Corny, I know, but I love the song still. 24) Superstar - Love Inc. My "my mommy thinks I'm special" song. Shut up. It always made me remember I was in fact a superstar and I have a bright future ahead of me. 25) Blurry - Puddle Of Mudd I remember first hearing this song and talking to my father. I was upset that things did not turn out the way I planned and got hurt. "Why, dad, why?" I vividly remember asking. This came to be known as my "why dad, why" song. 26) Rainy Dayz - Mary J Blige/Ja Rule Come to be my 'waiting for the rainbow after the rain song'. When I have a hard time, I often think of that hard time as a storm, or a Rainy Day. This song is the hope that something better will follow. 27) Until The End Of Time - Tupac Shakur/RL 'Take these broken wings'. Come to be known as my in need of healing song. 28) World's Greatest - R. Kelly This song reminds me of my smaller sisters. When we heard this song we came to an agreement. We all agreed that if we were bullied, hurt, vulnerable or having a hard time, we would start playing this song. We promised to each other that by the time the song was over, we promised to feel better. 29) Change The World - Eric Clapton I do not really know why, but when I hear this song, I always feel motivated to do something to better the world we live in. 30) Long Train Runnin' - The Doobie Brothers I learned how to play the harmonica specifically for this song. Usually only ever heard in bars, whenever I heard it growing up, my mother always pulled out two imaginary harmonicas and we played together. 31) Break Stuff - Limp Bizkit No need to elaborate. 32) Sandstorm - Darude The first techno song I ever heard that got me listening to the genre. In my opinion, best one out there too. 33) Thunderstruck - AC/DC Every warm up before a tournament, my entire wrestling team would get in a circle around the mat and turn this song on. We would start doing a warm up job and letting the muscles tense for the competition. We would get 'zoned' and ready for a match listening to this. Great times! 34) She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5 This song TO THE LETTER best describes the relationship I had with the woman I wanted to ask to marry me. Nothing more I can say that the song does not. 4everLP_Shinoda
This is an interesting topic which reminds me of a programme that Mtv shows. Here are some of the songs I can think of so far: Runaway and Easier to run by Linkin Park-These 2 songs basically talk about running away and not facing your problems and sometimes I feel like that, like I´d rather run away than facing them. My December by Linkin Park-A part from being one of my fave songs, every time I listen to it,it always reminds me of Christmas for some reason. Then there is this spanish song that I really like a lot which talks about friendship and that song means a lot to me bcuz we sang it in the journey I had like 3 months ago. Crazy by Simple Plan-If you read the lyrics of this song,it says a lot of true stuff. She will be loved by Maroon 5-When I listen to this song,it makes me think that some day I´ll find some1 who love me back (I know I sound pathethic(?)or whatever but it´s just an idea I have:o) Unwanted by Avril Lavigne-The title of the song sometimes makes me think that guys don´t like me:o(again the same reason as above) Breaking the habits by Linkin Park-The song explains for itself and makes me wanna break some habbits I´ve got. Like I said b4,those are the ones that can think of now but I´ll add more if they come to my mind
Hybrid Soldier
1)Look at me now - Akon and Obio Trice I practically adopted this song as my theme song after I got into some deep shit. I mean, I pulled myself out, and changed myself, and thats what this songs all about, even if the shit theyre talkin abotu and the shit i was in is different, its the same deal. 2)You don' know Me - TI Ok, I am fuckin sicka nd tired of people I don't know walking up to me and askign me "Can you sell me...." its like "Who the Hell are you?" 3)People=Shit - Slipknot Finally, math that makes sense to me, I mean, it has an equals sign, so its math, right? 4)Runnin - Biggie and Pac "Why am I fighting live when I'm just living to fight? Why am I trying to see when theres nothing in sight? Why am I trying to give when noone gives me a try?" I dunno, just really connects with me. 5)Short Fuse - No Warning Quite self-explanitory I think. 6)You gon' love me - Da Back Wudz The way they mean it isnt the way it is to me, but to me its like love is never shared in any of my relationships. I know I'm a bit "young" for love but still... 7)Carpe Diem - Jin It's like my motivation anthem, "Cant think twice, i go for it." Carpe Diem man, dont think twice, just go. 8)Lose yourself - Eminem This song explains and shows my love for music, I seriously do "lose myself in the music." 9)How you remind me - Nicelback I cannot tell you how many times I have felt that "someone reminds me of what I really am" seriously, I cannot think of a better way to explain it than that. 10)With You - Linkin Park No matter what I do today, I'd like to see tommorrow, i'd like to see what my choices did to affect everything, I'd like to se that my choices effected something. 11)Lifes a Bitch - Nas Two songs about tommorrow, cool. But seriously, you gotta live life like theres no tommorrow, the same concept that made me choose carpe diem.

ShadowFox
In no particular order...these are the songs that'd be in the soundtrack of my life. 1. Behind These Hazel Eyes - Kelly Clarkson It seemed we were perfect for each other. I loved him so much. Then he broke my heart so bad... This song reminds me of how much I loved him..and how badly he hurt me inside. 2. Fall to Pieces - Avril Lavigne I still love him... He's the "only one I'd be with til the end." This song basically tells of my feelings for him... 3. Away From Me - Evanescence Sometimes I feel as though my whole life is a lie... That my entire existance has no meaning... And this song kind of makes me think... 4. Photograph - Nickelback This song makes me look back to the old days on AIM..between my WI friends and I... And it also makes me think and appreciate my friends from school..and how they're the best friends anyone could have. 5. Wake Up - Three Days Grace My ex and I..used to listen to this song all the time. And we'd joke around about it...so this song holds some memories. 6. Numb - Linkin Park Another song my ex and I listened to a lot. We both really liked LP...and this song fit how we both felt... This song holds memories too. 7. Lying From You - Linkin Park When I get in a fight with my parents or something..I usually go upstairs and blast this song... get some anger and aggression out. 8. Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park Yeah..used to blast this too. I also feel like I don't belong sometimes..so yeah. 9. Don't Stay - Linkin Park The song I listened to when my ex and I first broke up.. "Forget our memories, forget our possibities... What you are changing me into.. Just give me myself back and don't stay." I wanted to forget everything that happened.. 10. Dirty Little Secret - All-American Rejects It kind of reminds me..of how the relationship between my ex and I was a secret from my school friends.. 11. Crawling - Linkin Park Yeah..this song kind of reminds me of my insecurity..and all that. 12. Tourniquet - Evanescence It..reminds me of the time I was kind of suicidal.. I said to myself I'd keep this song playing when I killed myself...and it'd be playing when they found my body..but yeah, as you can see..I didn't kill myself..and I'm not even suicidal anymore... 13. Time of Your Life - Green Day This song played on the sixth grade video... on the last day of school... It was sad... And I also dedicate this song to my online friend Danielle who died in a car crash... A lot more songs would probably fit in here..but I can't think of any more at the moment..
