**** President Obama is raising postage. The burden of his spend more mentality is already hitting us...

WASHINGTON ? The post office will get an extra 2-cents worth when you mail a letter starting in May.The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday that the price of a first-class stamp will rise to 44 cents on May 11.

That gives plenty of time to stock up on Forever Stamps, which will continue to sell at the current 42-cent rate until the increase occurs. They will remain valid in the future regardless of rate hikes.

"The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today," said Postmaster General John Potter. "Even with the increases, the Postal Service continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world."

They should go up 10 cents to help recover from this spending stimulus package we just got. We're gonna need all the help we can get!

 If you feel so strongly about that, you can add those extra 10 cents to every piece of your mail. Think of it as a service to your country;)

He doesn't care how much they cost. He just steals them from work anyway.

The postage is regulated by the economy. It goes up along with the economy. The Post Office isn't making anymore money.

Mailing Services increases take effect May 11 Feb. 11 — Yesterday, USPS announced the Governors have approved new prices for Mailing Services, including a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail stamp to 44 cents. The new prices will go into effect Monday, May 11.

Rising costs make the price adjustments necessary — the increase tracks the 2008 rate of inflation.

“The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today,” said PMG Jack Potter. “Even with the increases, the Postal Service continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world.”
