yea just do jam sessions

pretty soon u guys will feel out what u like best and then from there

u evolve im actually using that method with my rap music im putting

out a whole bunch of mainstream sounding tracks just to get that feel

because thats what I generally here and then once i get that out of my system i

just start rapping to my own groove and i get some pretty insane results

same thing for rock.

been thinkin about starting one......but hav no idea how to go about it....any suggestions????

I've always wanted to form a rock band, but none of my mates can play any instruments and their music taste is different to mine, well slightly, but still.....so pathetic!:'(

So I guess all ye need is to find some peeps who have the same interest and start to learn how to play some instruments (if ye don't know).......so yeah......that's what I've been trying to do these days.....

well learning an instrument isnt too hard, and like frib said, it doenst hafta be confined to rock

and rock is very broad, im sure theres an aspect of rock your friends would like, whether it be pop rock-maroon 5, punk rock-yellowcard, hip hop "rock"-gym class heroes(not really rock...but they do use a guitar and bass an feature heavily in rolling stone) and such. you can even add your own little touches like a keyboard/synth or a violin like yellowcard or even a trumpet =P

learning an instrument is awesome, should get your friends into it, rock out in your music rooms or something

Don't state what you want to sound like before you even start to play, first you have to learn an instrument and develope your own style. When you have find other band members, people you already know may be a good first step, start with getting maybe 1 member then another and gradually add, you start to play together and you will develope your own sound.... don't force a sound, it will sound crap. If it doesn't work then you will have to replace members or find another existing band.

Eventually you will have a group of people that can naturally flow with each other creating yourself a sound then you can think about calling yourself a band and booking gigs at bars and pubs, make friends with other bands.... this is essential as you need bands with larger fan bases (especially if you don't have many friends yourself) to get anywhere.

Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it.

Or LPF Sessions 3 leaks before it's done and Spoilers will be posted for every film release. Not to mention periodic troll invasions.

and if you don't find anyone just yet, just start playing something yourself. all alone you have the ultimate artistic control, lol.

and the important thing is not to have any preconceived notions of what you're gonna sound like. what you write may surprise you when you begin, but I can promise you it's a hundred times better than if you try and emulate something that already exists

Yea, I mean I don't know/remember what you said you were learning but if your learning something like an acoustic than you automatically open yourself up to an easy solo start. Put out your music and once people start hearing your stuff, you'll meet people who maybe weren't your friends before who might want to collaborate. But like stenners said, for the most part don't automatically decide what you plan to sound like. I made that mistake and im just now starting to recover from it.

I'm a rapper and I initially wanted my music to have this big beat meets eminem overwhelming sound but like as time moved on and these last three beats ive worked on ive realized that maybe i want something more simplistic that allows me explore what exactly I want to say in my music besides just kil kill killl even though that was my first inspiration to get into rap.
