Stern Report. Global warming cost.

Although science has been pushing for action on global warming prevention for over twenty years, suddenly it's front page nooz again. Is it election time already?

Stern claims the cost of global warming will top the combined costs of all WW1 and 2, as well as Korea and Vietnam.

He's guestimating around the $9 trillion mark.

Brit boffins on the gov payroll are claiming that if Britain did everything it possibly could to achieve the goals of the Kyoto protocol, their efforts wouldn't be a drop in the ocean compared to pollution set to rock the planet from China's move into the industrial/consumer age.

Is that cause to ignore the warnings?

I'd be selling my coastal properties, if I were you lot.

Persevere,

it pisses people off.

Time magazine had an article in 1975 warning about the coming ice age. In 1875 Scientific America predicted that within a century major US cities would be knee deep in horse manure.

Maybe I don't have my thinking cap on tonight. How's global warming gonna cost us money? I don't feel like googling right now.

Try relocating some 200 million refugees from coastal lowlands, for starters.

This bloke is no scientist, but he's offering his economic experience as a World Bank boffin, on the projected economic crisis.

The world cannot afford to wait before tackling climate change, the UK prime minister has warned.

A report by economist Sir Nicholas Stern suggests that global warming could shrink the global economy by 20%.

But taking action now would cost just 1% of global gross domestic product, the 700-page study says.

Tony Blair said the Stern Review showed that scientific evidence of global warming was "overwhelming" and its consequences "disastrous".

The list is quite extensive really. I see Mussolini, Mossedegh, Stalin, Kruschev, Khomeini, hell, even the US Middle Class gets a mention......

More here.

I almost made the 2005 Man of the Year, but was denied when the council found out that I love bush.
