Guest JoelBennett
I've recently helped set up a website that requires a domain username/password to log in. This is working fine for several users who are located on another domain. When IE asks for a username/password, they specify the domain\username and password, and it works fine. There is one user who is on a different machine that has issues. (He's on a dual-booting Macbook). When he attempts to log in, and enters his domain\username and password, the domain that it shows on the login screen is the name of his local machine (MACBOOKPRO). How does one change that domain? Here's a screenshot: The grey fields are the name of his machine, and the blue is the domain that he should actually be authenticating against (his local username and the username for the domain he is authenticating against are the same). The problem appears to be that despite specifying a different domain (the one in blue) it is still trying to do something with the local machine (the one in grey at the bottom). I thought that by specifying a domain (the one in blue), it would try to authenticate using that username/password, but for whatever reason there is still the bottom grey box saying the name of his local machine. Any thoughts on what might be going on here? When specifying domains like that, is it somehow case sensitive? Continue reading...
