Popular third-party software keyboard developer Swype is preparing an official Ice Cream Sandwich version that is currently slated for release near the end of January, the company announced on Thursday. “Good news! Official ICS support is near,” a Swype representative wrote on the company’s Twitter account. “Final tweaks and testing should be done in time for an anticipated end-of-month beta update.” Swype is a third-party keyboard that uses word prediction in combination with swiping motions to allow users to quickly write emails, text messages, tweets and so on. Galaxy Nexus users must currently use a hacked version of Swype on their devices but with CES around the corner, Swype intends to have a new version ready ahead of the imminent wave of Ice Cream Sandwich-powered devices set to launch in the coming months.
