I have an HP <a href="http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/102295/Unable-to-add-a-new-Drive-Really-need-help./" id="x_KonaLink0">
<span><span style="color:#008504; font-family:'Tahoma','sans-serif'">Smartmedia</span></span></a> 487 server. I am getting errors<br/>
that one of my <a href="http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/102295/Unable-to-add-a-new-Drive-Really-need-help./" id="x_KonaLink1">
<span><span style="color:#008504; font-family:'Tahoma','sans-serif'">drives</span></span></a> is starting to fail. So I backed up all<br/>
of my files, and am trying to add another drive. I purchased a 1 <a href="http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/102295/Unable-to-add-a-new-Drive-Really-need-help./" id="x_KonaLink2">
<span><span style="color:#008504; font-family:'Tahoma','sans-serif'">TB</span></span></a> WD Caviar Black Drive that has 32 MB of<br/>
Cache. Per everything I have read, I placed a <a href="http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/102295/Unable-to-add-a-new-Drive-Really-need-help./" id="x_KonaLink3">
<span><span style="color:#008504; font-family:'Tahoma','sans-serif'">jumper</span></span></a> on pins 7&8. I have placed the<br/>
drive into an open slot on my server. The system recognizes it, but when I go<br/>
to the console and add it, it goes through the formatting process fine, then<br/>
when it says "Adding Hard Drive" it locks up my server. I can no<br/>
longer connect to it, the only way I can get a response is to power it down and<br/>
power it back up.<o:p></o:p>
Now I am getting a message that says my trial of <a href="http://www.mediasmarthome.com/forum/thread/102295/Unable-to-add-a-new-Drive-Really-need-help./" id="x_KonaLink4">
<span><span style="color:#008504; font-family:'Tahoma','sans-serif'">Home server</span></span></a> is over. Not sure what that means.<o:p></o:p>
I have been working on this for over a week and I really have not had any<br/>
luck getting and help, so any help would be appreciated.<o:p></o:p>
Am I doing something wrong?<o:p></o:p>
Do I need to just remove the bad drive and then try to add the good drive?<o:p></o:p>
Do I need to do an entire system reset?<o:p></o:p>
