INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are looking for two men seen running from a home on
Indianapolis' north side where two women and two children were fatally shot
Monday night.

Indianapolis Metro police said that when they arrived at the home in the
3200 block of Hovey Street at about 10:45 p.m. they found three people dead
and a 4-month-old girl wounded. The fourth victim later died at Methodist
Hospital

Police identified the victims as Gina Hunt and Andrea Yarrell, both 24,
Charlii Yarrell, 4 months, and Jordan Hunt, 1.

Investigators said all of the victims died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Indianapolis Metro police Sgt. Paul Thompson said police first received a
report of people trying to break into a nearby vacant home and were called
again a short time later about shots being fired.

"This was a third-party call. The address that was given was on the opposite
side of the street from where this happened. In the run, it indicates it's a
vacant house," Thompson said. "They checked the house and couldn't find
anything. We didn't have any reports at that time of anything else going
on."

Minutes later, police got a call reporting that someone had been shot in the
Hovey Street home, 6News' Julie Pursley reported. Officers then discovered
the victims.

Chaplains were brought in to talk to grief-stricken family members and
friends.

"This is just ... inexplicable violence that rocks our city to the core,"
said IMPD Chief Michael Spears. "I assure you we are doing everything within
our power and our authority to bring a quick resolution to the matter and
bring those responsible for this into custody."

Investigators said there was a report of two men seen running north on Hovey
Street just before police arrived.

Two handguns were found within a block of the home and police said drugs, a
scale, long guns and a safe were found in the victims' home.

Police had been called to that same home several times before, including at
least once for a robbery in September, according to IMPD Sgt. Matt Mount.

"There's just a number of factors that have to be looked at," Mount said.
"Because of the things that were found at the scene they are going to look
at every possible motive."

Residents gathered at the nearby Great Commission Church of God after they
heard of the shootings.

"There was a family cousin who showed up on the scene and it was very
emotional," said the church's assistant pastor Malachai Walker.

He said the neighborhood has crimes such as burglaries and those connected
with drugs.

"But as for homicides -- it's a shock," he said.

Police said they would like to talk to the two anonymous callers who alerted
them to the shootings.
