phreakwars
Fuck the flu. To all of you who have had it, fuck you all, I envy you. One of the things about me when I get the flu, is I still have a plague of insomnia on top of it. So while I get to feel all the pain and fatigue and weakness and what have you associated with the flu, I don't have the advantage of sleep to help me recover much faster. I thought I had the flu yesterday, and a bit of it for a couple days before that, but I think it was probably stress and anxiety that caused the high fever, burning nose and eyes, coughing, and general fatigue. I feel a bit more energized today, as I have had some supportive friends help me in my time of need, so I am tempted to return to work tonight. This is where shit gets tricky though. Since I know it is flu season, do I risk going to work ?? If the sickness I felt was indeed stress related, I'm good to go, but then, there is always the chance that I am indeed still sick, my mind may very well be in over-stimulation mode and might be forcing me to move around. It's just too hard to say. If I am in over stimulation mode, which I suspect I am, because I have not slept for 2 days, I'll either be good to go for a couple more days without sleep, or I will succumb to the flu and let it make me collapse with exhaustion. I of course, would prefer the collapse so my brain will go into REM . How the fuck tweakers actually like that feeling is beyond me. I yearn for sleep. REM is healthy for your body in too many ways. But I'm not talking about sleep, I'm talking about the fucking flu. My daughter has been home almost all week, my son shows no signs... yet.. I'm hoping, if I did catch any of it, that my brain function is too out of wired to let a flu bug keep me down for long, and promptly stomped the shit out of it once it invaded my body . I fucking hate being sick. But I hate not being at work even more. And when you have an active family with a working mom, and working dad, handling the kids too, can also be a pain in the ass. Having to pick them up from school while your at work because the school calls you. Finding someone brave enough to tend to your brats so that a healthy you can make a living, having one get sick after the other has recovered and starting the torture all over again. I guess I don't mind the kids themselves when their sick. I know how miserable being sick feels. But damn, everything else, fucking sucks about being sick with the flu. . . Komrade Vostok Hazard
I had it a couple of weeks ago and made the mistake of trying to play the hero and went to work. All day I could barely stand, I felt all gross, and the whole bit. After seven hours I said fuck it and went home and slept for about three hours. I don't know if I made anyone at work sick but... I Hope I made everyone of those motherfuckers sick. Bunch of fucking rude-as-hell immigrants. Namely that one pork chop who thinks his foreman position gives him the right to bark and bitch at me like I'm a god damn trained monkey. FOREMAN DOESN'T MEAN SLAVE DRIVER, FUCKSTICK. And then his pointless fucking hen picking. HOW DARE YOU INTERROGATE ME WHEN I TELL YOU THAT THE REASON I CAN BARELY STAND BECAUSE I'M SICK. Sick with what you ask, motherfucker? I don't fucking know. If I knew how to diagnose diseases at the drop of a hat I would be enjoying my fucking six figure income from working as a M.D. And than there's that Flipper with his constant barking as if he runs the place. YOU'RE NOT EVEN A FUCKING FOREMAN, ASSHOLE. And even if you ARE SOMEONE, there's no reason for your attitude, rhetorical comments and fucking hand gestures...Note that if you make that John fucking Cena "You can't see me" gesture if I put something one nanometer from the wrong damn place again, I'M GOING TO CUT YOUR MOTHERFUCKING HAND OFF AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS YOU FUCKING GOOF. Outlaw2747
Had it once as a kid. Horrible. I couldn't walk or even stand. I got the chills despite high temperature. Constant coughing, runny nose, headache, and serious fatigue. Haven't had it since, especially since the military hands out influenza shots like candy. Sucks ass but I am fortunate to not be affected by it...at this time anyways. snafu
My wife is such an insensitive fuck when it comes to people being sick. My sons got the bug now. He was feeling shitty a couple days ago. So he calls her at work to say he’s feeling bad. She tells him to go to school anyway. Well he calls again to say he missed the bus because he was in the bathroom throwing up. So last night we go out to eat. He hasn’t eaten anything all day and still couldn’t eat. So my wife continues to bagger him to finish his dinner. We get home and I’m about to give him some Nyquil. She comes running down the stairs and asks what I’m doing. I tell her. She says “but that will make him fall asleep”. Umm yeah. That’s the whole idea. She tells me he has to do his homework. The kid is a straight A student. I think one night of no homework is ok. So I’m pretty pissed by then. She says well he can lay down for a bit and I’ll wake him up later. WTF? Okay she trashes the poor kid all night. So today I have a major headache and I’m thinking I’ll leave work early and maybe take him in to see the doc. Fucking old lady is gonna leave work early to take him in. (We have the same boss). So now I’m stuck at work, pissed!! PS: It's only a matter of time before I get it now. Phantom
I wonder what the correlation is between the flu and insomnia. I have had a really hard time sleeping the last few days while having the flu. Maybe we are too miserable to sleep. Maybe it is because we are resting throughout the day that we cannot sleep at night. Maybe feeling like shit keeps us awake? Quote Blah.

(knock on wood) I haven't had the flu in 20 years but i still remember it well. I do get the shot every year but i don't know if that is why i don't get it or my superior immune system. Like i told you before, i can not imagine having chronic insomnia. i had it for 5 days kicking the vicodins and by day 3 a hammer to the head or a pill overdose was looking like good options. Does a "fattie" not help? How about a big swig of nyquil and a "fattie"? Quote "This place may be bombed and we will be killed. We love death. The US loves life. phreakwars
Like i told you before, i can not imagine having chronic insomnia. i had it for 5 days kicking the vicodins and by day 3 a hammer to the head or a pill overdose was looking like good options. Does a "fattie" not help? How about a big swig of nyquil and a "fattie"?Chronic is putting it lightly. I can remember years ago when I'd get the flu, all I wanted to do was sleep, and sleep I would do. I'd be out all day long. Now, with my brain all fucked up, I can't even look forward to sleep when my body wants me to rest. And when I finally DO sleep. I experience slight memory loss when I wake up. Like take this morning for instance. I had the accident the other day. I don't know what day I had it. I finally got about 3 hours of sleep last night, after being awake since the day the accident happened, and I had to ask my wife what day it was after I woke up. I was happy that the fever broke when I basically passed out. I ended up falling asleep at the kitchen table and my wife woke me up as she was getting up for work. As for a FATTY, that might have helped me relax a bit if I had a FATTY, but the truth to that, is I gave up weed a long long time ago. OK, not too long, but well over a year ago. I tried going with alcohol for a while mixed with prescription drugs in the hope that I would either sleep a good nights sleep, or die trying. That didn't work out so well either. The medication made me sick enough, alcohol just killed my stomach. I'm not 22 anymore, I rarely drink. So for me to get drunk now, it takes a hard toll on me the next day, and you wanna talk about BROWN BOTTLE FLU ?? If I drink, it's a quart of beer, and it's not to get drunk, it's to stimulate my kidneys and liver. No thanks, I'll take the good ole' regular flu anyday. Like I said in the first post, anybody who has had it already, I envy you. You at least have it done and overwith. Concidering I don't have the advantage of sleep when I'm extremely sick, the flu for me really pisses me off. Hell, even when I injured my spine, It took 3 pills and a shot to sedate me. They figured I should have been asleep after the second one and a hit of morphine... HA !! After doping me up, I still had enough in me to be very very drowsy, but still able to get up and walk. . . RoyalOrleans
I have never, ever had an influenza inoculation and still I remain as healthy as a horse. I had a flu-like spell back in January of 2006, but that was the last time I ever felt sickly. I missed a total of six hours of work that day, but I did turn in sick time. SouLess
I've had the flu twice or so..and it's usually around December. Damn fucking at November 30 no one is sick, and when it gets to December the 6th half the damn school is sick with flu. It sucks, it's incredibly difficult to sleep, and when I had the flu the most I can sleep a night was like 5 hours, waking up once every hour or something. The flu sucks. A good thing people don't catch it often though. Or do they..
