i'm not sure this cultivating our cultural film horizons is doing us

any good. we just watched a korean spaghetti western which wouldn't

have been out of place if it had lee van clef, clint and the other

usual susspects in it. some of it was very funny. at least it was way

better than machine girl and zombie strippers.

Did you know the Hausa culture has a film industry in Nigeria?

http://abubuwan-da-nake-rubutawa.blogspot.com/

Way back when, before I was 18 and was forced to attend church, this chick

(little girl at the time) was my pastor's daughter. He is now a missionary

in Nigeria. Her name is Carmen and she is quite an interesting person. She

has another blog there, too. See profile to read it if interested.

i've not actually ever seen a bollywood film. i was tempted to check

out the bollywood revisioning of 'a nightmare on elmstreet' when i

found out about it. the thought of dear freddy chassing, bangaring

about a tad, singing and then killing someone in their sleep does

sound exceedingly entertaining.

i still cannot believe bollywood bought the rights to loads of us

films to make bollywood versions. my mind is still boggling at that.

Which would make sense from her (Carmen's) point of view since she spends

some time in the UK now and then. She's one of those eternal students.
