The perfect first date

My very first first date, when I was 11 or 12 (she was 13 or 14), started as the epitome of typical. A chaperon drove us to eat, the dropped us off at the movies. We snuck in to see Ransom, instead of whatever movie we payed for, and made out the entire movie. Then we made out all the way to my house, and she called me as soon as she got home, and we talked for a couple of hours.

Awwww, that's cute!

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if you guys have a "go to" formula for a first date with a lady or if you like to tailor it to her personality and interests.

I generally would let the woman decide, if they showed no desire to do so and wanted me to set it up I would most likely ask her if she liked fish and fishing, if so we would head out on the Gulf for the day on my bosses boat, catch some fish and cook it fresh on the boat. I love the water and fishing allows a lot of time to talk and get to know each other instead of staring at a movie screen not talking.

My idea of a perfect first date is supper at the Outback, watch Speed on VHS, and motorboat my way to the promised land.

Kidding....

Unless I am in a relationship where it is give and take, here and there; I never let my date decide what we do or where we go for the first date. The first date, in my opinion, is all about me and my ability to show the date a good time.

On a first date, especially if it is someone I want to bang, I spend some bank and skip the typical "movie" venue. (A movie on the first date is droll and boring. "Sorry, I have nothing to say to you for two hours so we'll watch some piece of horsesh!t in a crowded theater.).

I never really thought of it that way but you're right. I think dinner and a nice walk somewhere .If the weather is bad you can go to an art gallery depending if you live somewhere that supports one. I had one guy invite me to watch him act on stage even. I was completely delighted and entertained. Being creative gets points in my book and it doesn't have to be expensive.

Hey ****. You know me pretty well and are aware of what a notorious pain in the *** I am. Where would you take me on a first date? :p

I like a guy who can think outside the box and plan something unique for a first date. That always impresses me.

My date this weekend has a bunch of stuff lined up that I like which is cool, and one thing he wants to do is take some shrooms and then go see Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". I'm a little apprehensive because I've never done them before, but it sounds trippy.

Perfect first dates equal no pressure. I'm uncomfortable with intense, stare in your eyes close talkers. Let's go watch a ball game, go go-karting, play mini golf, anything that gets us a chance to talk and laugh and let things be light. I don't want to hear about every past relationship or listen to whining about how he got screwed over. I just want it to be fun. Then if things go well, let's go get something to eat...nothing formal...I don't want to sit in formal clothing, talking all quiet and sitting stuck in front of someone I don't know. Save formal for later when we are more comfortable. I'd rather be taken to a dive with great food, take our stuff and eat on the grass somewhere, or lets go get some groceries and cook dinner together. I wanna go home played out with a sore stomach from laughing hard. If I'm comfortable and at ease there is very little I wouldn't be up for ;)

A movie first date is ****** lame. It means "hey let's not talk and can you give me a hand job?" No ****** thanks!

Alice in Wonderland was fantastic! On shrooms would be a hoot!

That is why I would love to go boating, and fishing then cook what we catch, I love to cook especially for someone special. If things go well and time is lost because of great time together then there is the sunset on the water as a great end to the trip.

Special time together is spent "WITH" each other, not with your mind accupied on something like a movie, I completely agree with all of you.

Did I tell you guys about the time I went on a date with a lady who stayed on her cellphone the entire drive to dinner? I didn't even stop at the restaurant, I turned around and took her back home.

OH!!! I almost forgot....if the guy feels the need to text anyone, or *** forbid check his ****** facebook status etc. etc. take me home! If I'm not interesting enough to NOT twitter, facebook or text...then I won't waste your time. Talking about work related stuff is fine to a degree. I'm okay with a quick call..but if I'm left to my own devices too long, don't be shocked to find I've left.

I dunno about the taking a girl out on a boat for a first date. Seems awful confining to me. I don't want the lady to feel she HAS to stay with me if things aren't going how she would like.

I agree with the boat thing....but fishing on shore would be a cool first date. I can fillet or cook :D If a guy wants to teach me to fly fish I'd be all over that!

I would mention it and look for her reaction, of course I would not try to make her feel trapped or anything. Why is it you always have to try and make me sound like a monster or something?

Believe it or not, here in Florida people see water sports as normal every day activities, not a chance to trap someone and molest them. It is not like we would be alone anyway, hard to run a 50 foot sailboat by yourself, lol.

Relax tough guy.. he was giving his opinion.. don't take everything so ******* personal.

For me.. I'm like IWS.. all my relationships have built from friendships.. So I guess a perfect first date for me wouldn't be planned much farther than lets get together and do something fun.. whatever we feel like whenever we feel like doing it.. I wouldn't wanna go into it with any expectations.. kinda like to fly by the seat of my pants and am pretty **** easy going so I'd be up for pretty much anything..

yeah, I didn't mean anything personal by my earlier comment. and out here in AZ, it wouldn't have the same connotation as it would on the coast.

I still feel that it should be at least a previously agreed on excursion, not a surprise event. I just think that would be creepy.

Personally, I have done the movie thing, and prefer somewhere or something that we can talk over. Dinner is nice, walking is nice, anything where the communication lines are opened up and we can both share about life and junk.

and someone needs their man card revoked for telling emkay the truth about movie dates...
