KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was found dead after an overnight carjacking and

abduction.

A woman told police that she and her passenger let two men into their car

overnight and those men carjacked the vehicle and abducted her passenger.

The woman said she was driving a white Ford Explorer near East 39th Street

and Vineyard Road early Thursday morning with a man.

She said they stopped and picked up two men in their late teens or early

20s. She described one of the men as weighing around 300 pounds. The other

had a medium build and weighed about 180 pounds.

One of the men pulled a gun and a struggle ensued, according to the woman.

She said she jumped out of the car and ran for safety.

The two men took off with the vehicle, with her passenger still inside.

A body was found by Harvesters Community Food Network employees near East

38th Street and Topping Avenue a few hours later that fits the description

of the male passenger in the Explorer, police said.

Police spotted the Explorer around 9 a.m. and pursued it. They said the

driver jumped out of the car at East 17th Street and Kansas Avenue. He ran

through an apartment complex before police caught up with him at East 16th

Street and Bellefontaine Avenue and took him into custody.
