They now have a class for that? Re: copyright laws

My kids brought a booklet home from school today. It was about a new program they are starting.

My kids are now part of the C Team (the c is made like the copyright symbol but I have no idea how to do it). Yep, that's right! They are now going to be having classes to teach the kids about copyright laws.

They will be showing them what is legal and what is illegal. They will be showing them how to credit the source when they do take material from the internet.

One of their main focus' is the trading of illegally copied music, movies, games and other software.

What do you think? Is it the schools place to take time out of their already overscheduled day to teach them these things?

I mean, I could see it if it was a higher grade and they were getting ready to do reseach projects or something but this is for grades k-5. They are already being stretched to the max trying to prepare for the stupid "no child left behind" bullshit of a test.

Do you think it will actually stop kids from downloading things illegally?

I am an idiot...

I think by the time your kids get old enough the sale of such items will be changed. The problem will probably be resolved.

I think they should get rid of the record companies and just have recording studios. Then have the artist sell theie own music.

We used to copy music and movies all the time. Then it was called recording! Fuck what
