I don't even have a problem with an elected Pontiff doing it by proxy by hiding behind the fact he was quoting a religious text. My problem is that he did it with a straight face, pushing aside 2000-odd years of murder and genocide carried out in the name of Christ, in the name his organisation, or by agents of his organisation. The immortal line, when a bishop was questioned by a subordinate as to how they would know heretic from believer during the massacre of the Templars was: "God knows his own". Said by a scumbag to a tool. How the fuck Papa Ratzi can look people in the eye after this is beyond me. He is a far cry from the last Pope, in his words, actions and I believe his intent. I was raised Roman Catholic, for what its worth, but I don't support this pope. I have known many Muslims in my life and every one I met were peaceful, religious, respectful of others, neat and clean in appearance and well educated. Perhaps I knew too many medical students and doctors. Its bad enough several rogue self-appointed Imams who - by advocating violence - are playing into the hands of the Americans who urgently need to replace their previous excuse for military spending [the USSR] with Islam. Today followers of Muhammad around the world keep proving by their actions that Pope's comment was 100% accurate. Not that I approve of Christianity, or of any other ideology which used to be suitable for the time and space in which their founders lived. As the time goes on and as the ideology gets wrapped into bony religious crust making it impossible to adopt to the changing world, that ideology (ANY ideology!) becomes more and more fallacious. None of the "established" religions can escape that fate. Those religions which try to impose their "rightness" by force, be it Christian Inquisition, or Islamic Jihad are VIOLENT by nature. I agree, though, that there is an awful lot of peaceful Christians and/or Muslims and they do not bear responsibility for the violence of their co-followers. Maybe they just by chance have joined a wrong ideology at a wrong time! - As for me, I do not embrace ANY ideology. Even if it was just in the Dark Ages (is that when the Holocaust happened?), it would still be the same argument you are using against Islam being used against Christianity. Some things are dangerous, aren't they? Calling them "your Muslim buddies" like it's an insult to have Muslim friends, by the way, is proof of Christian intolerance that could easily spiral into violence. Look, if enough people subscribed to the views of http://www.godhatesfags.com of course innocent people would die. You've proven yourself wrong already, so to post any more would be pretty redundant. Everything you said about Islam can be applied to Christianity, you couldn't deny it, you just went off on some pathetic tangent about how it happened more often a long time ago, no sane person would have any respect for you, and that's that.
