To Beat or not to Beat....

http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/10/10/taped.beatings.ap/index.html

I was just reading this story and my first instinct is that if someone was beat, there must have been a reason! But, when I watched the video (half way down the page), I'm not so sure...

Them man in question is older, drunk, unruly, physical, and refuses to be taken down... I would say that means the police are in their rights to use any force they deem necessary to bring the person in... But I'm not so sure they needed quite as much force as they used...

At one point the man is put in a choke hold and carried to the ground with a lot of force... At his age, a blow like that can be very damaging, and in some cases fatal...

It's not that I think that he shouldn't have been brought down... He was out of control and should have been brought in, but 4 cops on 1 old man, drunk or not, should have resulted in a slightly less physical engagement... At that point, if the man is totally unresponsive, THEN you drag his *** to the floor with whatever mean necessary...

What do you think....

Yeah, I read that already... it's a repeat of Rodney King. In both instances the cops were right and the perps were wrong. Of course in this day and age all you have to be is a stupid beligerant ****** and society will bestow 12 million dollars on you for it.

Hmm, I might have to interpret what the rotting one is trying to say here.

MRIH approves police brutality, and excessive force. He also considers any person of colour to be a "perp", and, as such, the perp is gonna feel the full extent of the **** jackbooted overlords, regardless of the depth and breadth of the "crime" of civil disobedience.

You really are a loser ******* tryhard kunt.

Even our resident demon-worshipper, Fullauto, was shocked.

What planet are you from again, rotting one?

That's because you can't ******* read!

MRIH approves police brutality
Wait a minute, moron... Have you ever been New Orleans? It is the most violent city in America outside of D.C.

and excessive force.
Let me give you a clue, you ******... when you resist arrest you will get beat. period ... even in Australia.

He also considers any person of colour to be a "perp"
I don't know how you came to that conclusion, since I too am a person of color. You half wit. The "******" reference was for Rodney King and his 12 million, don't be a dullard! (if you can)

, and, as such, the perp is gonna feel the full extent of the **** jackbooted overlords, regardless of the depth and breadth of the "crime" of civil disobedience.
No, resisting arrest MUST be accompanied by enough force to subdue that person... If you watched the video, he was most definitely resisting.

You really are a loser ******* tryhard kunt.
And you're stupid.

Even our resident demon-worshipper, Fullauto, was shocked.
So what? He is entitled to his oppinion because he has a brain. You are not, because you are retarded. You belong in a zoo!

What planet are you from again, rotting one?
Planet Earth, where reality is key. You on the other hand are from planet "Everything is roses and people resisting arrest should be allowed to go free"
Stick to Aussie issues, and dingo *******.

Apparently, the man was not drunk, as was previously thought. The cops there are just tired and over worked and need replacements. That is what happens in situations like New Orleans. They get so sick of dealing with sh-t from people that they begin to treat everyone as a threat. They also assaulted the News Reporter that was there. It is just a matter of tension

Trained police beating the **** out of an unarmed drunk guy? **** that.

Yea sure if he was resisting arrest they do need to subdue them, but there is NO excuse to beat him to a ****** pulp for **** sakes. There is using force and then there is excessive force.
