snafu
"The bottom line is this: Congress' failure to fund our troops on the front lines will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines," Bush said. "Others could see their loved ones heading back to the war sooner than they need to." Nough said. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. cybacaT
The arguments seem to be: DEMS: If you want funding, then agree to our timeline. The troops will get what they need to get through the next months before they pull out. REPUBS: Our troops need funding now to do their job. Not funding them means you are putting lives at risk, and dragging the thing out longer than it needs to be. Personally, the key issue is whether or not to withdraw. Based on Islamic history, particularly the battle where Mohammed and some warriors took on far superior numbers and were victorious, Muslims have always regarded withdrawal of their enemy as a victory blessed by Alah. I wouldn't like to see the terrorists in Iraq, including those who have spilled down from Syria, Iran, Pakistan, feeling they somehow achieved a blessed victory by their actions of blowing up thousands of innocent civilians. What sort of lesson is that, and what precedent for their future campaigns of expansion? Right now they are focused in Iraq, remove the battlefield from there, and they'll start targetting close to home. Where next - downtown in your city?
