Traffic Tickets

Ahh yes, the ever dreaded traffic tickets.. I got one last night for, "disregarding a stop sign".. Total bull, but is whatever..I went like a mile with the cop following me, and did 3 other complete stops, before he pulled me over and wrote me a ticket.. But the worse part is, it was right down the street from my house, and my mom came down to meet me.. She knew the cop, but he had already written the ticket, and he said, "Well had she told me who she was, it would have been a warning, but since the ticket is already written, there is nothing I can do." Now isn't that that biggest piece of bull **** you have ever heard.. It clearly proves the point, "Its not what you know, its who".. So now I have three questions for you:

1.)Should I be upset by what the cop said?

I was extremely angry when he said the I should have mentioned who I was, like what difference does that make, to me, it shouldn't matter, if you deserver a ticket, you deserve a ticket, regardless of who you are.

2.) Should I go to court or just pay the fine?

My mom told me this ticket is my responsibility, so I can either pay the fine, or go to court... But I don't know if court is worth it, but I mean if there is a chance I could get the fine or charge reduced I should try right? But what are the chances of that?

3.) Have you ever gotten any tickets?

Like I said, this was my first ticket.. I truly believe its a bullshit one, because I know I stopped, but, I honestly have to say, I am reaaaaaalllllly lucky, because my friend was high in the seat next to me, so it could have been so much worse. Also, my mom said this ticket is totally my responsibility.. So any advice would me much appreciated.

Yes and sadly this is how it usually is its not right. My friend never gets tickets cause in uncle is on force.

Just pay unless you have undeniable reason that you shouldn't have gotten ticket. It appears you don't. So don't waste your time, hardly anyone ever wins.

3.) Have you ever gotten any tickets?

No but I have been very close on a few occasions:

*Pulled over in town going 20 over the limit (55MPH in 35MPH)
*Suspected to DUI because I was tired and crossed fog line repeatedly and accelerated, stopped, and drove to fast
*Burning out at Wal Mart but knew the cop and got a way.
*All the times speeding I have passed a cop and don't know why I didn't get pulled over (was doing over 100MPH on highway and cop was sitting at an intersection on the bypass)

never had a ticket, dont think iv ever done anything behind the car tht would warrant a ticket

iv tailgated....but that ******* had it coming...

id just pay the fine, as much as it ****** u off, unless u got irrefutable evidence, then ur basically just wasting ur time in court + ud end up paying the fine anyways

i dont have any cop "friends"

well I called the courts the morning and they said the ticket wouldn't be in the system for 10 days and to call back then..

But my mom came home from work and told me that because I am a minor I have to go to court

Best of luck to you even though youve probably already left by now. Dont worry too much, small things like this always cause people to get so nervous, but they always turn out fine. Let us know how it goes.

Ok.. So I had to pay a $50 dollar fine and i am on probation for 30 days.. not to shabby, not to shabby...

What a total nerve wrecking experience though.. We got to court at 3:00, and waited till 4:30 at which point the judge called me up, and the court house was closing, so it took all of five minutes.. The judge read me my ticket and what the officer wrote.. I basically told him I knew I was wrong, and I deserved the ticket, and he was like "ok, in that case.. I won't take your lisence, you will have to pay a $50 fine, and you are on probation for the next 30 days.." and that was it.. I paid and left.

That's ****.I really think cops she spend more time cleaning up the streets of gangs and helping domestic issues rather than pulling people over for stupid things. The police here in Elk Grove seem like they have nothing else better to do but to stop people for senseless things.
