I have in idea to save me heaps of time but i cant find any information on triggering the desired event.

Using the DevicePath (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731664(WS.10).aspx)istry string i have enabled my windows 7 pc's to find any missing or new drivers from a pre determaned directory filled with all my drivers.

I have fond ways to trigger the seach:

  • [ ]Plug in new device (The search in the repository will come before searching in windows update)
[ ]Scan for new hardware in device manager (This will trigger a search for all devices without drivers)
[ ]Device Manager > Right Click on device > Update Driver > Search Automatically (This works a treat but need to be performed 1 device at a time)

I cannot find a way to trigger a search for updated drivers (eg. like this: Device Manager > Right Click on device > Update Driver > Search Automatically) for all devices without doing them one by one.

If anyone has any information on how to automate this please help im sure this could save many people alot of time. Consider it this way 'i have >100 computers to look after, if i can tell them all to automatically install a new driver i place in a folder that can same me heaps of time'.

I know this can be achived using DISM and injecting drivers into images before deployment but what about after deployment? Can my driver repository be added to my WSUS Servers?
